Love Rank

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2009/writers/bryan_armen_graham/03/31/rookie.rankings/index.html

As most of you know they update this stuff every week, but this is just ridiculous

ESPN ranking: 5 (directly after Eric Gordon)
NBA.com ranking: 8 (Beasley is ranked 7th)
SI ranking: 7 (behind Rudy Fernadez who is ranked 5th for some reason)

Even though we are ranked higher in SI than NBA.com, I feel their Fernandez ranking was a slap in the face.

1. Rose
2. Westbrook
3. Lopez
4. Mayo
5. Love

Edit: I don't know if it was changed, but ESPN currently has Love 4th and Gordon 5th.

Good thread.

I'd have Rose, Westbrook, and Brook Lopez above.

I haven't seen enough of Marc Gasol .. I'd say he's comparable

I'd have Mayo just behind

I'd have Beasley, Gordon and Oden much behind.

So 4-5 for me. Which is amazing, because if you asked me last year, I'd have said at this point he'd be 10-12. He really proved me wrong.

I'm gonna go by Hollinger's EWA (estimated Wins Added) benchmark since it reflects positively on Love:

1. Lopez 2. Love 3. Gasol 4. Rose 5. Gordon 6. Westbrook 7. Mayo 8. Oden 9. Speights 10. Fernandez 11. Beasley 12. Augustin

I agree with this, but I would drop Gasol behind Mayo.

9. Augistin
10. Lopez

1 Rose
2 Lopez
3 Westbrook
4 Love
5 Gasol
6 Gordon
7 Mayo
8 Beasley
9 Augustin
10 Speights

everyone here is pretty set of the fact pretty much 2-10 are interchangable. I'm not entirely sure Mayo is even the best rookie on his team muchless better than Gordon/Love. Gasol is a monster and quite consistent in what he does. I'm pleased to see the Gasol for Gasol trade wasn't the one-sided affair everyone thought it would be. Love will likely be 2 in the next year or so as he starts to fill more of a BradMiller/Arvydas Sabonis role (at least thats what i see in my mind, but a 6inch taller Wes Unseld wouldn't be bad)

Do you expect Love to grow 4 inches?

It would be a dream come true if Love had a late growth spurt and jumped up to 7'1". Wolves fans would be howling in the streets.

1. Rose
2. Westbrook
3. Love
4. Lopez, Mayo

Love and Lopez are very close, I put Love higher because he's got almost 10 more double-doubles this season than any other rookie, and he's performed in a variety of roles (C, PF, 6TH) whereas Lopez has been able to settle into the one starting position all season.

If Love was 7'1 he'd be a Bull.
Zach Randolph>Frye. Kevin Durant > Oden. Random guy off street> Pritchard.

And we'd be stuck with Beasley. So let's pray for that late growth spurt. :-)

I have Rose ranked ahead.
Then Love
Then Lopez and then Westbrook.

I am going entirely off what I would like for the wolves and that is my order.

As far as Love is concerned I think height is overrated. I am more concerned about his conditioning and explosiveness. If he improves those things then his defense should emerge as well.

Westbrook and Rose are pretty much leading all rookies so I want them tied for first. Lopez comes third, but just barely ahead of Love at fourth, and Mayo not far behind at fifth.
