Chisholm's Year in Review: At Least One Year Away

Well, it sounds more and more like they are going to need to hire a new head coach. While McHale has impressed as the team's replacement for Randy Wittman, he sounds less than enthusiastic about the idea of returning in that position for another year. If he opts to abdicate his spot (management would prefer that he didn't) then a coaching search will commence that will almost certainly begin and end with former Wolf, Sam Mitchell. Mitchell has experience mentoring young big men, he has ties to the organization from his playing days (and from the fact that Rob Babcock, who hired him in Toronto, is Minnesota's assistant GM) and he is only two years removed from being named the league's Coach of the Year. While his interest in the job (and the interest of management in him) is far from certain, the match makes logical sense

Was Mchale that good, or was Wittman that bad and any improvement would have been great? The positive in this year is not in having a good coach or good front office currently, but rather that we got rid of Mchale as a GM and Wittman as a coach.

really creative mentioning Mitchell. NEver would have thought of that.

The New GM will hire the coach he likes.

i can think of no one better to coach/teach KLove and Jeff than McHale, aside from that, i think you are right, it was just Witt being that bad.

As a big man coach Mchale could be good. (*insert mchale big man camp joke)

But that is only one part of the coaching job. Not only is there other positions to develop, but the basic x and o, clock managments, player personality management (which he is good at)

perhaps his assistance can compensate on the resT?
