Besides bringing some thought and pragmatism to the White House?

This is a pretty good read on the subject:

Clean underwear?

The efforts to help those getting foreclosed on seems like a good start. The housing market actually took a good turn this month, I believe. It's still going down, but down at a slower pace, which could lead to a turn around.

I am just happy the guy seems to think about everything he does. He's definitely not an ideologue. If he needs to take his time to make sure he doesn't eff stuff up, then so be it. If you ask me, he's already shown considerable progress. The war in Iraq is ending. The war in Afghanistan is getting more attention. Guantanamo is closing. Our relations around the world are improving. We're slowly getting out of this economic mess. Money is being funneled to improving our infrastructure and green technologies. There are signs that we're making progress in preparing legislation that is dramatically going to cut health care costs. And this is all of the top of my head. Give the guy a break. There's only so many working hours in a day. The man can only do so much. Unfortunately, what's bogging him down right now is all this torture debate. It's unfortunate that he has to worry about the past administrations past regressions instead of being able to concentrate on going forward with the real problems ahead.

Stay away from OpEds. Those articles are designed to just make people angry so they read more and the papers/websites get more ad revenue. Just spend that time downloading more porn. You can never really go wrong with porn.

Disclaimer: if you are under the age of 18 and reading this, then porn is a bad, evil thing that is only purveyed by pagan worshiping, sociall progressives and is therefore not recommended.

I told my friends here in Calif that Obama is just a typical Chicago politician who is being idolized by the media and turned into a savior.

Mayor Daley of Chicago was ecstatic when Obama was elected and most of Obama's inner circle is from the Chicago machine.

Which state has received the majority of money so far? Illinois , of course - even more than California & NY have received.

The only thing that distresses me is how much money is being thrown around with no accountability & the government taking over business after business. That didnt work out so well in the Soviet union, did it?

The future generations will have to pay for all this spending. look at California - where spending is out of control. Not enough money coming in - so the politician just vote to raise taxes. When Arnold tries to cut spending because the state is broke, he is accused of being heartless.

Bottom line with obama - he really wants to be loved. It seems to be an obsession with him. what better way to get people to like you than by handing out money? Especially when it's not even your money!
The gem cannot be polished without friction, nor man perfected without trials.

Please keep this civil.

My frustrations come from people who think the world completely reset on a first Tuesday in Novemeber. They completely ignore that the last 8 or 14 years actually happened.

Maybe it's a selfish view, but I'm doing better today than I was a year ago, and I'll be doing a better a year from now than I am today. I'm willing to give the guy a little bit before I drop a flying elbow on him. In the mean time I'll do my part by being personally fiscally responsible. Policy can only go so far, at some point it's up to the people.

Policy didn't force bad debt, it just allowed it. People made the decision to take it on. Isn't freedom of stupidity included in the 1st ammendment?

And he got thrown a potential pandemic virus on top just for good measure. He needs a bit of time to get these crises manageable and then build his foundation.

It's like moving into a new house that has a major roof leak and a cracked foundation, then your water heater busts and floods your basement and people are wondering why you haven't landscaped your lawn yet.

I think it's more like the house is leaking and a new contractor is hired to fix the leaks and he says that he knows what he is going to do... and you come back and check on him a couple of months later and none of the leaks have been addressed and the contractor is more worried about repainting the walls then addressing the leaks since he actually doesn't know how to handle the leaks

just think the guy needs to be more aggressive. Go shake things up, thinks are already sufficiently **** up, don't worry about playing it safe. Seems like a smart enough guy and most people like him, not only can he afford to make some drastic changes, but that's what people expect from him too.

the country is divided no matter what, but majority rules and to keep the majority's support, he has to live this "change", and he's only scraped at that philosophy so far

I think forcing GM and Chrysler into a serious downsizing program will prove to be one of his bigger accomplishments this year. Chrysler + Fiat makes a lot more sense to me than Chrysler + Mercedes Benz. Fiat specializes in small cars, which is exactly what Chrysler doesn't have. I thought Chrysler was done, but now I think they have a real shot at survival.

I saw some lady driving this "car" that looked like an oversized golf cart and the trunk looked like toolbox hooked onto the back. This is what I thought to myself I thought: "hey, where can I get one of those? That's perfect for when I want to go to the grocery store in perfect road conditions- but not too fast - and then bring a small amount of groceries back home with me."

It also reminded me to get new batteries for my RC car

But it's "SMART," and it makes a pleasant whirring noise like a hand-held fan.

Ha that reminds me of the new VW ad where the hybrid owner is describing how his car sounds.
