Problem with it, I dont see any player with the TWolves they're interested in, and if there is one, I doubt the TWolves are going to trade him. Besides, it will be very hard for Miami to make a trade because of their plan of cap space in 2010. So buying a pick is their best option.
You've confused me now, with a post from another board.

Isn't the recent lay-off of employees and not participating in the summer league means Miami is thinking of saving some cash?
I doubt Miami will buy a pick and exceed the lux tax this year. I expect movements or trades, and Miami bypassing the cap space in 2010 in favor of this off-season.
Now maybe some protected 1st works in trade, but either that or buying a pick sound like they'd put you over the lux. It might help though if MIN was a small cog in a bigger trade.
For example, suppose MIA wanted Bosh (I don't know that they do), and had a trade lined up (let's pretend it was Blount + Haslem + Beasley) in order to take advantage of Jermaine O'Neal's short window and they tried to win-now to impress Dwayne Wade. [Yes, I have an imagination]. TOR wants a little more. MIA could move to add the pick (#18 or #28) for value now, to add to the trade. The future pick has more value to MIN than TOR, because TOR has roster positions to fill, and may want to get started with youth next to Beasley. Moreover, MIA adds the MIN pick without hurting their lux, because they save the money back in the trade.
