MIN-PHO-NJN

Quick and dirty.

PHO GIVES: Shaq + #14
PHO GETS: Mike Miller + Ryan Gomes + Craig Smith + Josh Boone + $2.75 mil TPE

MIN GIVES: Mike Miller + Ryan Gomes + Craig Smith ($16,198,437)
MIN GETS: #14 + future lotto-protected 1st + Simmons + Hassell + Dooling

NJN GIVES: Simmons + Hassell + Dooling + Josh Boone ($21,212,635) + future lottery protected pick
NJN GETS: Shaq ($21,000,000)

NJN turns bad expirings for better ones, and they don't have to move Vince Carter.
PHO gets a lot more talent and cap space
MIN spends money and talent to get 2 picks

I saw a nets fan asking about shaq. I couldn't understand at first with Brook Lopez, but NJN is in financial trouble, and adding Shaq to the Big Apple may be a move to get people interested. However, his deal had Vince Carter, so he might just be interested in Shaq's expiring to get out of Vince a year early. Again, everyone's expiring.

This seems light to us, and maybe too good for PHO. Thoughts?

It seems pretty crappy for us to give up Mike Millers expiring and hes a good player for Gomes who's a good player and Smith who's decent for 3 scrubs IMO.

I think shrink just forgot to put the 2 picks from the other teams in the Minnesota gets part.

MIN spends money and talent to get 2 picks

I like it for us definately, it gives us a shot at Earl Clark in the late lotto and a future pick, in my opinion I think PHO would probably want either the NJ future pick back

Oops - I'll go edit -- thanks.

PHO fans love this deal so far. In fact, we might be able to throw Gomes or Craig Smith to them to encourage them. One pointed out that getting Shaq might help them getting LeBron the next year, which I hadn't thought of. I just don't know if they wanted Shaq because he'd put butts in the seats. I have to think they'd prefer Shaq's expiring to the other bench expirings.

I think 11 njn pick instead of the 14 send the 11 to the wolves 14 to the nets and remove the future pick from njn

I really like this deal if some of the other aren't available... also can the future 1st be Dallas's unprotected first that New Jersey has in 2010.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
