Szczerbiak has two younger siblings, Will (a graduate of Georgetown University) and Wendy (a current member of the women's basketball team at Lehigh). Wally is of Ukrainian descent.

In addition to his wife Shannon, Szczerbiak is unofficially and unknowingly happily married to Sarah Szczerbiak.
