VOTE: Love or Mayo straight-up.

It seems like this has been discussed forever for hindsight purposes, but with Rubio's people suggesting he won't come to MEM because of fit (ball-dominating Mayo), perhaps it would be smarter for the Grizz to switch tracks, and move Mayo? MEM was last in the league in RB's last year, and Love would be a great fit for the team. I think Rubio can easily take Conley's job, or they could trade him.

If The Grizzlies offered Mayo for Love, straight-up, who would you take right now?

With this current team we have...Mayo. I like Love more as a player and think he's more valuable than Mayo but he is a PF and we have Al. Mayo could be a good scorer someday and we need star power on the wing.

For PR's sake, it would be tough to justify for both teams, but it makes perfect sense on both sides. We need a guy like Mayo and they need a guy like Love. Plus trading Mayo gets rid of a ball-dominant guard for Memphis, which might entice Rubio to come over for them. Conley just isn't the difference maker they thought he would be when they drafted him, unless he explodes, which I guess could happen.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

Sorry shrink, this isn't answering your question but I have to question the premise here. Is Mayo the fit problem for Rubio or is it Conley? Seems like Conley would be the more likely culpret (as would Westbrook in OKC). I think these two teams could make good trade partners even with the history but just not Mayo/Love. Rubio and Love seem to fit together better and Conley/Jefferson seem to fit together so something that changes the lineups in that direction would seem to improve both teams, imo. That said, I would not do a straight Love/Conley swap.

this is from Draft Express:

With that in mind, it appears that the Memphis Grizzlies will have to make a very strong sales pitch to Rubio for him to move off his initial stance of not wanting to play for them. Rubio’s concerns stem from a number of factors, ranging from the potential poor fit of playing alongside a very ball-dominant guard in O.J. Mayo, to the negative experiences conveyed to him by the likes of Juan Carlos Navarro and Pau Gasol.

I don't think Rubio worries about taking Conley's job, even if they don't trade him.

However, like big 3 said, it would be very painful for MEM to move Mayo to accomodate Rubio.

I'll take Love as the second offensive option over Mayo as the first. If they are both first option then u gotta go Mayo.
