Who has the best value for the Wolves @ pick 18?

Its a hard question to answer... because what we do at 6th will have a huge effect on the 18th pick, that said here goes.

#6- Tyreke Evans

As I said in an earlier post, this guy has impressed me alot in the last week. Ive been watching old game tape of him and some scouting vids (and some highlight ones) and the kid looks like he could be a beast. UNlike many others though I see him as a shooting guard in the NBA when all is said and done.

#18- Ty Lawson

Yes we went for a gguard with our first pick and yes we will go for another guard with this pick. I see a Lawson/Evans/Foye backcourt of the future.

#27- Omri Casspi

Kid looks like he could be a bruising small forward in the future. Like his skill set and B ball IQ, would love to see him backing up (or interchangeable) with Brewer at the SF spot for the next 3-5 years.

#45 and #47- Damion Jones and Slava Kravtsov

Jones will come in and compete for a spot right away and his hustle and intensity should be good to watch in summer leauge and training camps. He would be a 50/50 shot to make the team. Slava on the other hand will probably never make the team, but why not take a flyer on a big 7 footer who we can stash overseas for 2-3 seasons?

Based on what I have been assessing, as well as others opinions on here.. it appears as though we are (more than likely assuming the draft pans out to our current belief) going to go pg or sg with our first pick, whether that be Harden, Evans, Holiday, Curry etc.


I'm seeing a lot of love for Clark. Good player. I'd like to see us take a shot on Terrence Williams (http://brianklevenson.blogs.cbssports.com/mcc/blogs/entry/14871938/15242140 out of Louisville, or at least consider him. My opinion changes every day. However, I feel like we either need to go SF, or BIG here, based on the assumption we go guard with the 1st pick...

I could see us going guard again, but I feel like it might be too crowded with Foye, Brewer, Miller, Telfair all fighting for minutes, in addition to at least one more guard that would be added to our roster with the 6th pick.

Henderson baby! I don't even like Duke. Have to say though Mullens BUST! Who from ohio state (recently) is doing anything in the NBA? And no, Oden is not that great folks.
I remember back watching Brewer in the NCAA, turning to my dad and saying "that's who the wolves should pick" and then a few months later what do you know. Same goes with Henderson, that's who the wolves should pick. I hear all this and that about his shot. Who cares? How great was LBJ's shot? How great is Brewers shot. If I had to compare (to brewer) GH has better handles and better shot. He also plays hard nose defense, great work ethic, and has been well coached. In time his shot will only get better. The Wolves need perimeter defensive players that can attack on offense also. Our game is suited to low post scoring, so it's not necessary to worry too much about perimeter scoring. They just need to to be able to knock down OPEN jumpers (hello Bassy can you hear me?). Of course we'll be trading the 18th so it doesn't matter.
Call me crazy but I'm also a point guard that understand how teams need to play together to anywhere. Brewer, Henderson, Upgraded PG (not Hinrich) would be very well set for the future.

Yeah Brewer was a good pick. I sill think he'll "come around" when the team figures out how to play together. He will thrive in a system more than a sandlot.

to clarify. I'd lIke Brewer (SF), Henderson (SG), and Passing PG who plays above average defense as our starting backcourt. Yes I'm crazy, but you just gotta give them the green light and stop babying them. The best way to learn is to be out there doing it. That's why you need to draft level headed players who don't get too down on themselves (or too high). Players who know when it's time to pass or too shoot (hated McCants). Confidence comes from knowing you'll still have your job even if you have a bad day, week, or month. Knowing that you'll be allowed to grow. To clarify even more. I don't like Foye. Maybe we should think about trading that.
