The wolves big board?

Post#1 » by shane5153 » Wed Jun 3, 2009 1:40 am

Not to get confused with our own big board, what do you think the wolves big board is? Outside of the number one pick which is going to be Griffin it seems like every other team is a question mark on who they want or wether they trade out of the pick. Here's mine:

1.Rubio
2.Harden
3.Evans
4.Thabeet
5.Curry
6.Flynn
7.Holiday
8.Derozan
9.Jennings
10.Mullins

Based on what The Mayor has said(haven't heard any rumors of Kahn's preferences), I guess I would say it's something like:

Rubio
Thabeet
Harden
Holiday
Evans
Curry
DeRozan
Hill
Jennings

And Mullens higher than most draft boards.

I was a big fan of holiday last year when he was in high school and would love for the wolves to pick him but flynn has done so much in his career at syracuse. Who has the higher upside? Who are they most comparible to?

I don't think they're at all comparable. Flynn is much shorter, much poorer on D... I don't real think Flynn belongs in the lotto conversation at all. 18, sure, by not lotto.

though Flynn is immeasurably more proven as a PG and didn't burst onto the scene or anything, he was a top 25 recruit. Not saying I'd take him over Holiday necessarily, but I don't think it'd be weird for anyone to have Flynn over Holiday. Great in HS, great in college, and he has jets; if his floor is a durable version of TJ Ford then he should get lotto consideration for sure.

Flynn would be good in New York, Phoenix, or Golden State where defense is optional.

I don't know where the idea that he's a sieve defensively comes from, Syracuse doesn't even play man to man, but athletically he's got the quickness to stay in front of people and that's more important than having size with all the screens on the perimeter. And If some team wants to focus their gameplan around posting up their PG on Flynn, then good luck.

The big question regarding the Wolves big board is whether they are still building the team around Al Jefferson. If McHale was still running the show, they would be and putting a higher emphasis on shooters to surround Al to make the opposing teams pay for doubling Al. With Kahn running the show, he hinted at the opening press conference that he'd like Al Jefferson to turn into a #2 option. I don't know what to believe. I find it a little strange that the chat boards haven't discussed whether or not we should be continuing to build around Al Jefferson.

If the Wolves no longer plan to build around Al Jefferson:

2. Rubio
3. Harden
4. Evans
5. Thabeet
6. Holiday / Jennings

If the Wolves decide to continue to build around Al Jefferson:

2. Harden
3. Rubio
4. Curry
5. Evans
6. Thabeet

1. Griffin
2. Thabeet
3. Rubio
4. Harden
5. DeRozan
6. Evans
7. Jennings
8. Holiday

Anyone else in my opinion, would be a tremendous disappointment.
