Roster space is an issue for us. You want to add value with future picks, that might be more appealing.
For me though, its too early for me to pick a single guy. Right now, 4-to-8 is about the same value, but it could change.
There was a SAC deal on the trade boards for a while asking us if we'd give up 6-18-28 for 4-23-31, and it was met with lukewarm responses. Kind of a weird draft with so much clumping so far.

I figure Etan would be dumped anyhow, so he wouldn't fill a roster spot. That #32 could be changed to a 2010 2nd rounder if you like. Rosterwise, you'd then be trading Miller + #6 for Pecherov + #5.
I guess what I'm really asking is whether or not Minnesota likes Evans enough over guys like Jennings/Flynn/Holiday that they'd be willing to sacrifice assets to get him. It seems to me that Evans or Harden would fit your roster much better than anybody else who is likely to be available at #6.

It's hard to say. The only proof that the Wolves like Evans at all at the 6 are some quotes from some unnamed executive from teams that are not the Wolves. But, if I had to guess, I would say no.

I have a feeling he is the player this year that teams are "leaking" they like in hopes someone they want more drops. Ironically the player I see him as most similar to both in build and game is randy foye. how'd that one work out for us? We could go back to stacking undersized combo guards like we were a couple years ago.
If the brass feel tyreke evans can really play PG (and keep in mind our system doesn't call for a ball-dominating deron williams or cp3 type because it involves little pick and roll offense and is centered around jefferson), He is head and shoulders above everyone else who will probably be available there. It is long past time we had a player who can physically outsize and outmuscle his opponent every single night.
If this scenario played out I would draft evans and thabeet, with derozan my 3rd choice, because then we could have TWO players who vastly outsize their opponents. Look at the lakers, they are bigger at SG, PF, and C every night, and at SF if they play odom there. The magic with turkoglu, pietrus, and howard. the cavs with lebron and big z. the c's with KG and rondo's freakish wingspan. Then look at us. undersized and/or unathletic at every position.
I like your trade. I would point out 2 things:
1. James's player option makes a draft night trade tricky because he cannot be traded until he excercises his option. This also gives him leverage in a trade-and-buyout.
2. Next year's Utah pick may hold more value for Washington because it allows them to avoid a guaranteed deal on the 2009 year, which has 76 million in guaranteed salary already before adding a draft pick. There is the possibility to draft-and-stash a euro, but there isn't really one who would be good value in that pick range.
I agree, NO CURRY
I'd want Holliday or Evans and DeRozan or Henderson.

I'd just take Jrue Holiday and be done with it. I have ZERO interest in Curry as well.

Re: T-Wolves/Wizards
There'd have to be a HUGE talent drop from 5 to 6 to give up that deal. But there isn't. I'd rather have Holiday than Evans anyway, but they're so close that there's no reason to target one at 5.
Now if we were talking Harden being at 5, maybe there's a conversation. I still don't think I'd do it for this deal though.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.
