Dinner With McHale and Kahn

[HL Slamdunk]

The two gentlemen walking up to the restaurant

McHale: It’s good to see you David. (McHale’s eating an apple)

Kahn: How’s it going Kevin? Why are you eating an apple when we are having dinner in a bit?

McHale: Well you know what they say, “An apple a day keeps the doctor away.”

Kahn: Okay, but why would you need to have an apple now?

McHale: Last night I got as drunk as a sailor.

Kahn: Yeah, let’s go inside. (Kahn is rolling his eyes)

They go inside the restaurant. They are sitting down and don’t have menus.

McHale: So what do you think you are going to have David?

Kahn: I’m not coming into this dinner with any preconceived notions. If the diner has a special, I might have that. We just don’t know at this point. There is a ton of information that needs to be processed.

McHale: I think ordering will be as easy as pie for me.

Waitress comes over

Waitress: What would you guys like to drink?

McHale: I want to get as drunk as a sailor tonight, so give me a dark malty beer.

Kahn: Do you have the nutritional facts for each of your drinks because I should really process that information before I make a decision.

McHale: So have you decided what you think you might have yet?

Kahn: Like I said before, I didn’t come into this diner with any preconceived notions. Maybe the steak is high in sodium, maybe the pork chops are extra fatty. I just don’t know at this point.

So Kahn gets the nutritional facts, and after 15 minutes pass he makes a decision: water. The waitress gives Kahn and McHale menus. After 5 minutes she returns.

Waitress: So what would you guys like to have?

McHale: I will have the steak that is as juicy as a big red apple.

Kahn: I still need more time to process the information given to me by this menu.

McHale: So can I keep my job?

Kahn: I can’t tell you how important it is that I spend all of my time and energy processing information in order for me to make an informed decision. If I spend one second telling you about your status as coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves, it will be one second too much.

So Kahn finally makes a decision, spends all of his time and energy eating, and nothing gets done.
