Our need for a defensive center. We could eliminate the worry of finding that player through the draft with Gortat. Is MLE too much? Opinions?

The full MLE would probably be too much for him, although I think he'll probably get offered that from some teams.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Smith and Madsen plus Utah's first for Gortat (sign and trade deal)

I don't think we'll be able to acquire him through free agency as many teams could use a player like Gortat. A sign and trade would be the best option but I think I'd rather look to other alternatives.

If the Knicks do in fact go after him (wiretap) and sign him for half as much as some other team gives Lee that would be a great move for them.

I like the Smith/Telfair version that was posted in another thread better but this is probably more realsitic. I would do either tho.

Can Gortat field a 7 million dollar a year deal? I kinda think that is what we are looking at here not the MLE. What is his status a qualifying offer? He would fit nice on front end of Timberwolves team.

He is a slightly above avg defensive center. Why would he want to leave Orlando and come here? I only see him leaving if he got a starting job.
