Personally, want no part of Zaza. I only think he has been serviceable (at best) and that is due to the athletic team he is on that hide some of his many flaws. Just not a fan and would hope he is never part of the future plans. He reminds me of Rasho with FAR less talent. Maybe Luc Longley-esque or worse.

Seems the most realistic to go after a guy with a couple years left from a team that needs to cut salary, and take another 2 yr contract back. It delays our capspace by a year, but if it nets us a desirable C, it may be worth it...

Tyson Chandler and Mo Pete for Miller, Cardinal, Brown and the rights to Pekovic?

Sam Dalembert, Thad Young and Jason Smith for Miller, Foye and Smith (and Pekovic?)

Otherwise, I'd rather try to sign Anderson Varajao... If we're not planning to trade Jefferson or Love, then whoever we get is not a starter but a defensive/energy sub, and that's the exact definition of Varajao.

With what you have up there Chaz:

Think that Chandler may be a decent target (his failing the physical for OKC when they needed a center scares me though), but I think the deal you have there is overpaying for him given the contracts and the financial situation in N.O.

As negative of value as Sam is, Philly is extremely high on Young and J. Smith and I doubt they would trade them, though that MN package isn't bad at all from their perspective and the value isn't far off if at all, but I don't think Philly would pay that price to trade Dally. They probably don't give him as much negative value as most teams.

For Varajao, he, to me, is a glorified power forward and doesn't bring enough athleticism, although a lot of hustle, to make up for his height. He may be serviceable at the 5 spot, but I don't bring him in since I don't think he offers enough of a difference on defense compared to Jefferson and Love with much less on offense.

Just seems to be slim pickings out there and it does make Thabeet somewhat more interesting due to how few true centers are out there.

Doesn't Varajao want 10 mil a year or something crazy like that? I think Chandler would make sense, if Kahn did in fact try to get Kaman. Philly isn't going to trade the only two centers on their roster and not get one in return.

Again, next year seems to be pretty deep with some athletic bigs, so I am looking at a cheap player to just test out this year. I don't think McGee, Jordan or RLopez are attainable. We would also have to take on an undesirable contract in the meantime.

Two guys I found that may be under the radar are Solomon Jones (Atlanta), and Josh Powell (Lakers) to go along with Courtney Simms. Both of these guys are about 6'10 and 230, but they have over a 12ft max vertical reach. This suggests that they are at least explosive and have defensive potential. Solomon Jones had a best case scenario of Ratliff going into the 2006? draft.

Chandler would be great, but we would give up all of our flexibility for him. I don't think Kahn wants to go that far. He may bid for Gortat or Chris Andersen.

He's a nice pickup for a 2nd rounder and I know I sure wanted him, but not at all the defensive center we need. He gets worked over mercilessly by each and every PF and center in the NBA regardless of their height or skillset.

I had forgot the name (since he did little to nothing last year), but someone else that could be considered as a young and raw potential center prospect that may be aquirable is Ajinca (sp) from the Bobcats. They have 4 or so centers so this could be an option, though he has A LOT of developing to do.

I think they like Ajinca alot. They have a french (speaking) connection thing going on with Diaw, Ajinca, and Diop.

*Nazr asked to be traded awhile ago if he doesn't get any minutes this year. So he would be the first to go. Not that teams want him.

Alas, I was trying to help make the wolves a bit more international/U.N.-like. Rubio or Thabeet, Ajinca, maybe look at Casspi (Israel) or Jerebko (Sweden). Second round picks could be Norel, De Colo, Llull, Beaubios. Not like I am going after Parker/Ginobli/etc. I mean, we have Pekovich and Alphabit, it only seemed right to grab a few more draft rights.
