Sorry for trolling fellas, but the Grizzlies would not due a Gay for Love straight up deal. So, why would they do #2 and Gay for #5 and Love? It just does not make sense. I do think the Grizzlies and T-Wolves will ultimately pull off a trade on draft night. My feeling is that it looks something like: Mike Conley and #2 for Kevin Love and #5.

The Grizzlies get a young power forward who would be part of an impressive young core (Mayo, Gay, and Love) to build around. In addition, the Grizzlies could get a decent solid player (Evans, Curry, or Harden) w/the 5th pick.

The T-Wolves get a young point guard who showed promise during the second half of last year...and is only 21 y/o! They could then turn around and draft Thabeet at 2, and still get a solid player at 6. Thabeet would be a huge upgrade at center, and Conley could end up being a very nice point guard for the future.

Thoughts?

Well we can agree that Love for Gay straight up isn't a good trade, I think we might not agree on who's the better half of that deal... Anyway, my thoughts on you trade idea are that it won't happen because in all likely hood Love is staying put.

Kevin Love said he's 99% sure he's not going to be traded. I don't see us trading him

Don't kid yourself, the Grizzlies would jump on a Love for Gay swap faster then people could come up with clever headlines describing the deal. The Grizzlies aren't nearly as high on Gay as they used to be, even if they were they would still make that trade.

My thought is that you're nuts.

Love is locked into that lovely rookie deal for three more years, while Gay is about to get paid. Your team was last in the league in rebounding, and Love would give you a perfect compliment in age and contract for your young team.

It would be ridiculous to trade Love for #2 now. Having the 2, 5, and 6 picks is something you think is a good a idea when you're 12. Keep the player who's already proven to be really good, if the Wolves love Rubio that much, I'd rather trade 5 & 6.

That's a very good point.

I'm not sure I articulated that very well, but I'm glad you agree. I think my main point is that out of the three lottery picks, Love is probably going to be better than 2. People get caught up in the draft hype and forget that every lottery pick doesn't turn into an all-star. I've fallen guilty of that at certain times.

One thing we also are forgetting is that Love can't be traded back to Memph til mid season. I forget where i saw that, anyone have the link?

Rubio has been hyped since he was 16, so I don't think falling for his draft hype is that bad. He's simply a legend to many of us. We've been hearing how good he can be for a while and why should anything change with that? I always think Pedigree is an important part of the draft that gets left out.

It was midsummer, and think that's wrong because Love never signed with Memphis (at least that's what Zgoda says).

I don't necessarily think it's wrong to fall in love with Rubio, I do think it's wrong to favor trading Kevin Love over our other draft assets for him.

Agreed, we dont have to have our future team set by Friday morning. We need to get all the best players we can now and worry about where they fit later. And that includes keeping our best young player. He will still have value at the trading deadline or next draft as well. Build up a team of assets and we can trade them off once we are good enough for fit to matter.

Its irrelevant because all the MEM players can be dealt back.

The rule is that a team can't trade back a player to his original team for one year. However, its an NBA year, and those start July 1st. Since the MEM-MIN trade was on the draft day in June, any of those players could have technically been traded back to MEM six days later, when the next NBA year began.
