Redick for Telfair is a definite yes. Smith for Redick is a maybe.

Not sure. The fact that orlando fans are always trying to get rid of JJ scares me. Also, Wayne Ellington fills a similar role. I tend to think that the only trades we will be doing are for foundational assets. combining Craig for something else. Not moving him in a lateral trade.

I've always had a negative view of Redick, but I was impressed when he was the only player on the Magic team who showed any kind of heart in the Finals Game 5. I wouldn't expect him to perform on that level consistently, but he seems like a decent enough back-up energy guy.

I'd do it.

we're not trying to get rid of him cause he sucks. he doesnt. we just have no room for him now that we got vince. he played last season because our starter (lee) played only about 24 mpg. the rest of the time was split between jj and MP while pietrus also played back up sf. this upcoming seaon MP will back up both positions again, only now vince plays about 13 to 15 minutes more than lee did which is what JJ got last year. he was good this season and his defense is VERY underrated. he did a great job on allen in the boston series and while at times his shot can be off, when he makes one he gets his confidence back. in minnesota he would do well because he'd get more run

I think he is slightly redundant with Ellington. Sure, Redick is the better shooter but Ellington is the better athlete and defender. I'd say yes if it was Telfair(just to be rid of him), no if it's Craig Smith.

Ellington can't play 48 minutes though. As of right now he is our only SG and we have 4 pg's with Rubio.

With a defensive center behind him, I think Craig Smith would look pretty good as a low post scorer in ORL.

I think JJ Reddick is a downgrade in talent versus Craig Smith, who's been stuck without defensive help since he entered the league. I think we can do better elsewhere.

If you wanted to include your lousy 2010 protected 1st for one of our lousy 2010 2nds, at least there'd be some incentive. Maybe include a buy-back clause for MIN in case they'd prefer the cash to the pick in the 26-30 range.

Its not a bad idea, but bench SG's are more common and cheap in the NBA than even under-sized PF's.

Brewer can play SG...Rubio can guard SGs when he's on the court with Flynn. I don't see the NEED to go grab Redick although we do NEED another legit 3-point-threat.

I agree with Shrink. Smith would be valuable at the trade deadline for sure.

I say yes. Wolves need guards and Redick showed he can play a little defense as well against the Celtics...he is a quality player that understands the game and we have excess in the front court.

How about this,

Wolves Get:
SG-J.J. Redick
C-Marcin Gortat(sign and trade)

Magic Get:
PF-Craig Smith
PF-Mark Madsen or PF-Brian Cardinal

I would be will to trade the Cookie Monster aka Craig Smith along with some other parts to get JJ and Gortat. But am not will to give up both Smith and Telfair.

Brewer/Ellington will handle the SG minutes. (*maybe some RR if he comes)

I would not do this deal because it freezes the asset. We can move craig right now in a package. if we get Reddick we have to wait before we can package that contract. Simply to keep the flexability I turn this down.

Yeah, I'd move either for Reddick (not both though) if that was the best offer the Wolves could get, but I agree with above that Smith can probably fetch a bit more.

Bassy can't shoot, that's not what Orlando wants from their point guards.
Smith for Reddick + 1st is deal worth thinking about though.

Thats a bad deal for the Magic

Gortat is more valuable than Smith, Pietrus more than Gomes especially in their system, Telfair/Reddick is a who cares

I would do the Telfair for Reddick swap or the Smith for Reddick and a late 1st

If they included their first next year then they can have Smith, I would include Houston's 2010 2nd to send them Telfair

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
