Sign-and-trade coming?

Post#1 » by Kurosawa » Wed Jul 29, 2009 9:56 pm

Pure speculation, but connecting the dots:

--Yahoo! Sports is reporting that the Hawks and Marvin Williams have reached agreement on a new multi-year deal.

--This after weeks of stalemate, with the parties not even close.

--Could this signal...

...a sign-and-trade...

...to Minnesota?

Kahn has been building, step by excruciatingly slow step, toward acquiring the assets for a trade that could add an impact player to the roster. When the Etan Thomas trade was finalized, he said another trade would be forthcoming, possibly within a couple of days.

No way to tell for sure, but it's certainly an intriguing idea.

Why are all the wolves fans all over Marvin Williams' nuts?

Come on people, Mchale isn't in charge anymore. We can't just assume that something we want to happen, won't happen. Not anymore. It's a new age in Timberwolves basketball. We Kahn do it!!!

Never was part of the Marvin Williams bandwagon and I never will be.

Believe me, you'll thank Kahn when we draft our point guard for the future with John Wall.

I don't think sign-n-trades can happen after the fact. I think it needs to be agreed upon at the time of the signing. If a sign-n-trade were happening, I don't think we'd hear about Atlanta signing him.

:rofl2:
We drafted four (4) point guards in this year's draft, and you think we will draft ANOTHER one??

No, we didn't draft 4 PGs in this year's draft. We drafted 2. Lawson and Calathes were part of trades that were agreed upon earlier in the day, but due to NBA rules, the Wolves had to make the selection for them.

Now I agree the thought of drafting a 3rd PG is crazy, but your reasoning for it faulty.

And having said that, I think it's pretty much agreed upon that John Wall is the best of the three, so you take Wall, EASILY, and trade Flynn and/or Rubio.

Your thinking is kind of like saying the Wolves shouldn't have drafted Blake Griffin this year had they gotten the #1 pick.
