I agree, there's got to be a move for a back up point guard. Maybe a move with the Nets who have Dooling and Alston?

Alston and Battie for Blount and Atkins?

Doubt it, why would NJ do it when they just got those 2 guys?

Would we want Alston influencing Flynn?

From Kahn's press conference from spain regarding rubio, it sounds like there has been a deal for Bobby Brown that has been sitting on the table. Didn't indicate who the other party was. You can listen to the press conference on timberwolves.com.

What is the over/under for how many days until the next move by Kahn? I guess before the labor day weekend is over, we'll see the next trade.

I'd say Tuesday, BECAUSE OF Labor Day weekend, though I suppose this isn't McHale who would want to take a fishing trip.

If this Sessions deal actually is real, I have to admit I would never have seen it coming.

But if it is true, Atkins HAS to be gone, right?

according to the Wiretap (yeah I know it's Zgoda) we should be seeing some trades soon. but I think it's rather stating the obvious.

This news has me a little worried. Zgoda's exact words are:

Zgoda wrote: Expect Kahn to make at least one more trade — perhaps as soon as Wednesday involving an expiring contract(s) — to get the roster into what he deems better competitive shape before training camp begins Sept. 29 in Mankato.

Most of the expirings we have are pretty worthless on the court, so I'm worried we'll be tossing in assets (picks?) or taking on a player with additional years.

Its too soon for Atkins to be combined with another player (17 more days) , and my hope is that he is used to move Songalia to a team that's over the lux this year, and fine next season .. like a UTA or HOU. However, my hope is that its not Atkins that's gone early. The reports that MIN paid to send a coach to NC to work with Songalia is worrisome as well.

Don't worry, Kahns the man. Kepy Atkins, get rid of Songalia and get a nice expiring with a 2nd. :D

Now what do we get for Atkins? His contract is valuable not to move.

I agree Worm. Something needs to be done with Adtkins. A team with lux problems would give a bit to get his deal. Any ideas?

Well I doubt Atkins will be here at the beginning of the year. I could be wrong but didn't Kahn say in an interview or something that he was 99% certain that Atkins wouldn't be on our opening day roster.
So I think he will be traded or cut by the beginning of the season.

If something is good. Or waiting until dec to be combined in a bigger deal would be nice. Unless taylor wants the savings for himself.

Atkins is worth a non-lotto 1st to many teams over the lux.

With his partially guaranteed deal, he can save $2.72 mil to a team in 2009 raw cap space. Doubled for the lux, and that's $5.44 mil.

As many of you know, late firsts often get sold for $3 mil in cash. However, this Atkins is better. Its like the team would get the $3 mil in cash, and another $3 mil in payroll reduction, and possibly gain a roster spot.
