I don't like Brewer's faux hawk. I'm sorry you were injured last year and didn't get to express the hairstyle when it was on it's unfortunate upswing, but now it's gone beyond overboard and he needs to cease and desist before the regular season, otherwise people are going to notice and he's going to be in pictures forever with a hairstyle thats obviously going to be made fun of 10 years from now.

Agreed, I kept looking at him thinking he looked funny, or something looked wrong. Once I figured out it was the hair, ya, well, it needs to be changed Unless he discovered it was an aerodynamics thing and made him faster or able to jump higher, than I guess I can condone it, maybe, if I have to.

I'm not being sarcastic. I think Brewer acts like a dick during interviews. He just has a sense of being better than people to me.

He thinks he's Pippen or Price and he thinks he can shoot. I also notice his voice change like "did you really ask me that!?" I dunno I think he gives himself too much credit. He has a fake smile during interviews too! He clearly isn't as marketable as we thought that's for sure.

You've got to be kidding. If anything he looks uncomfortable and anxious.

But no seriously, I can't say enough about Brewer. Obviously he's never going to be a top offensive option, but he hits the boards, handled the ball a little better than he has in the past, got to the line a couple times, played GREAT defense(swatted Kirk into the 4th row on a 3 attempt), and just brought overall great energy. And that smile is sooooooooooo dreamy. ;-)

Now I'm sure this is where some tool accuses me of being a homer. I'm not saying Brewer's ever going to be in the discussion for an all-star visit, but he's going to prove to be a valuable member of the rotation. Now if only he can hit that outside shot, we'd have a Bruce Bowen type.

Brewer can be a valuable player in the rotation but that's a far cry from Scottie Pippen.

he always has the nervous smile in interviews. The reporter asked about Pippen. brewer said a "prince-type" (see def player) He says he needs to work on his offense too.

I think you are trying to see him as a negative, when he is a good kid.

None of these guys should be starting for anybody. They all have their niches as bench role players though. Brewer is a good defender, but he still has that deer-in-headlights look on offense where he either rushes everything or is a step late.

If any of these guys can play a team game and simply hit open shots at a rate of 45% or 40% on 3 that will wildly exceed expectations.

And what is with the free throw difficulty this team is having? I know it's pre-season, but even the good shooters like flynn and sessions are throwing bricks up there.

Gomes is probably going to be trade bait if we re-up corey as expected. What can we get for him when his value is as a 6th-8th man in the rotation? An expiring and an early 2nd / late first?
Could he be used in a gerald wallace trade?

You really need to get off the Pippen/Brewer comparison.

The only reason I brought it up is because I figure you were taking a shot at me with this:

Not you specifically. Just anyone that can't read a realistic optomistic view of a player without screaming about the homer kool-aid. The cool thing to do lately is to hate on Brewer, so anything that could be classified above "bust" is considered a homer view.

Player to Watch: Corey Brewer

Where Brewer will make his name, though, is defense -- hence the Marion/Prince comps. Brewer has shown more promise here, as the team has been better defensively with Brewer on the floor. Honestly, there's only so much he can do so long as the Jefferson/Kevin Love duo fails to defend the paint sensibly. But the defensive improvement in the backcourt ... can help, and it's not insane to think this team could end up in the middle of the pack on defense. That requires big things from Brewer, especially in the passing lanes. If Rambis imports his flood defense from the Lakers -- a defense led by another Brewer hologram, Trevor Ariza -- our protagonist could very well boost his steal rate and by extension improve the team's transition game, which of course helps his own offense.

I thought this was a pretty good Brewer article as well, talking about his flaws and his potential positives.

I love how he is playing lately. The energy is great. His jumper is improving and I think it can only get better.

Brewer played with a lot more confidence the last few games. If he continues to play strong throughout the regular season he might develop into a very valueable piece. Flynn and Brewer would give us a serviceable back-court defensively. Both need to continue to improve their jumpers and they'll be nice.
