Hawks Waive Sims, Siler.

Post#1 » by Klomp » Thu Oct 22, 2009 3:10 am

One is a guy some have coveted for awhile. The other is one who played on our summer league team. Two roster spots may be opening this week with the likely waivings of Blount and Daniels, so would anyone be opposed to bringing in one or both of them.

I'd say Sims over Siler. Seems to fit our uptempo game better.....though maybe we want a change of pace...

I would be surprised if the Wolves carried 15 players. My guess is you'll see the majority of the teams in the NBA go into the season with 13-14.

Good point. When I read the Wolves have 14 on their training camp roster, I thought that meant with Blount and Daniels too, but I was wrong.

I'd take Sims over Siler or Jawai. Siler was solid for summer league, but he didn't have any lift, though maybe his conditioning has improved since, and his awareness was a bit questionable at times. Granted I'm not expecting a world beater from someone who got waived during the preseason, but I would love to bring Sims in for a look at least.
Thriving on mediocrity since '89.

I would have prefered to add Sims for a min. contract instead of trading a future 2nd rounder for Jawai

It's not a real future 2nd rounder. It's top 55 protected.

Nevermind. I'd still rather add Sims than Jawai but I'm ok with both.

I think Dionte Christmas could be a much better player than he is. He wasn't forced to or didn't choose to really improve in college.

He is fairly athletic and quick with nice size and length for a SG @ 6'5". He's got some of the tools for the NBA but hasn't bought into the work it takes to succeed at that level. A humbling year in the D-League working on being more consistent with his 3pt shooting, creating off the dribble and reducing his turnovers could get him another chance next year in the NBA.

By the way - what is wrong with Courtney Sims that he is passed over so often? - usually teams salivate for 6'11" shot blockers - especially one with some offensive skills. What the hell he has to be better than Robert Swift etc.
I've been a fan since the beginning and I will be until my end.
