Did Jason Hart just Make the Team?

Did journeyman Jason Hart just make this team as a third PG?

Zgoda wrote: Kahn said he expects a resolution with veterans Antonio Daniels and Mark Blount this week. He gave both players permission to stay away during preseason while their agents seek trades or contracts elsewhere. Expect the Wolves to cut ties with both players.

Personally, I wouldn't mind if Hart was cut, and we violated NBA protocol and didn't carry a third PG. I think that with 1a Flynn and 1b Sessions, we don't need a third PG right now unless we had an injury. Blount and Daniels could remain at their apartments, as trade assets up to the deadline, that allow us to acquire assets by absorbing 2009 salary from other teams that are over the lux. They can be bought out at any time, if we find we need the roster spot, or they agree to a substantial decrease for their buy-out number.

I'd even bet that Daniels would dust his shoes off midseason to showcase himself and let the league know he can still play for a late-season buyout/trade to a contender.

You always have a 3rd pg for injury/foul situations. Hart's defensive skillset will be nice in practice also.

I wonder what team would want Daniels or Blount right now?

But this may be a particularly weird situation because:

1. We have two very promising PG's - both potential starters for some teams.

2. We probably want to give them as many minutes as possible.

3. We aren't win-now. Even if there is an injury or foul situation, the worst thing that can happen is that we lose the game.

Now I don't have anything against Jason Hart. I kept a closer eye on him a couple years ago, but he seems capable for the 3rd PG role. I just think its interesting that we have a situation where NBA convention might not apply.

Problem is if we have no pg it hurts the rest of the team. You need a 3rd pg simply to keep the ship running. He might never play, but he is the emergency back-up.

I think we need to keep him as a 3rd PG. If we had a guy like Jaric or McCants (or Craig Smith), who can just barely pass as a 1, then I'd let him go. I'm not so sure I like ellington, brew, sasha, wilkins, EVER being point.

Actually, if we let hart go I think Love or Brewer would be the next best PG option. That said, I think we need to keep him over some random D-league signing-barring-injury situation.

Bought out. Daniels would probably get a good amount of offers. Blount, would probably have to pay a team.

Via Trade. You'd have to wait at least until midseason, unless the idea of Jared Jefferies as a Wolve really intrigues you.

We need Jaric or Livingston on this team so we can test out Flynn as the off-guard on offense.
