Beat me to it, lupus. The only way the Knicks move Gallinari is if they can get two max FA's, which pretty much assumes that Curry has to go. So Gallinari to move Curry makes sense, but the values in the OP are off.

Gallinari, the 2011 1st rounder and Curry for Blount and the rights to Rubio is getting closer.

NY has Lee/Bosh/Lebron/Chandler but no PG. Minny has Flynn/Session/Rubio - someone will eventually have to go. So, Gallinari for Flynn or Rubio?

NY:
Rubio (Flynn)
Chandler
Lebron
Bosh
Lee

Pretty formidable

Minny:
Flynn (Rubio)
Turner (from the draft)
Gallinari
Love
Jefferson

Not bad

Everybody is happy. The two blue states love each other. Global warming is averted.
You're looking at this the wrong way IMO. What if it's Joe Johnson and Boozer? There is not just Wade and LeBron out there. NY would love to get to the point of being a playoff team again. I think Joe Johnson and Bosh would be a fantastic duo and far more likely than LeBron or Wade IMO. And those 2 would be good for another 5 years or so, it's not a terrible risk to sign Johnson through age 34.

The real question is (as always) can the Knicks get a better deal than cap space for Gallinari + Curry? Or would that be the best offer they can get? I personally think they could get a better deal, maybe from someone like the Lakers who have very deep pockets and would be happy to take a crappy Curry for a solid upgrade at SF. The problem with most trade scenarios is they are done in a vacuum, when the league is quite a bit more dynamic than that.

On a side note, though, if we gave them Gomes back that deal might make a lot more sense. Now they have a very solid #4 option at SF (Gomes is a good 2 way player, he'd be great there) and plenty of cap space. Maybe something like Curry + Gallinari for Gomes + cap space?

Well I did say "if all the planets align".

They may very well be happy picking up a Joe Johnson this year and waiting for 2011 for their second FA, in which case Gallo would be off the market. Either way, the PG position seems to be the weak link for them as I see it and they may be forced to move one of their core at some point in the future to upgrade that position.

Threads involving the Knicks tends to bring a mix of trolls and educated posters, and sometimes they all get lumped into one group. There are a few really good Knick fan posters. Unfortunately, typically the loudest are the dumbest, and also some happen to be mods over there. They also seemt o think it's ok to be completely rude 100% of the time, and make comments about someone killing himself because they don't agree with their opinion. Then they come over here, or other boards, and cry because someone insulted them. It's typical "can dish it out, but can't take it" behavior. I've seen my brother act this way at times, but he's 9, so he at least has an excuse.

Its just kind of what you're looking for.

Thanks shrink, I think you're swell too. :-)

Getting back to the original post, though. New York doesn't have anything on their roster, outside of Gallo, that we'd want. And to take on that much suck just to get him is a bad, bad idea. And yes, Knick fans like to hype up anyone that walks through the door. Frye, Sweetney, Balkman, Douglas, {insert crap pick that busted here}.
