Mensah-Bonsu waived

Post#1 » by Esohny » Sat Nov 14, 2009 5:27 am

From wiretap:

He's a good defender and rebounder and gives a lot of effort(and pretty cheap). A fit for the Wolves?

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

He impressed me in the preseason games he played, but i'd rather stick with Jawai.

I've been wanting to take a look at him for awhile now, but we got Jawai now. Probably be as productive at Hollins though at minimum. Hollins needs to step up the defense and step down the fouls or that contract is going to quickly become a burden.

^yep, I know we were desperate for a center but I have a feeling that his three year deal might have been a mistake. esp when pops was out there.

I think only 2 years of Hollins are gauranteed, as far as Pops, he is a scrub, if he was any good he would have landed a contract long time ago and wouldn't be going back & forth between Europe and NBA.

He'll end up in Toronto again.

Hollins third year is a player option.

Like many big men, Hollins was signed for the hope of what he could develop into. He certainly has the athleticism, but he had never learned to use it without drawing fouls.

Mensah-Bonsu is someone I've kept an eye on as well. I'd have liked to take a look at him too, but now I don't think we have the minutes to develop him. If we make a trade which moves Jawai or Hollins this season (which could happen, but I think is unlikely), I'd happily pick Mensah-Bonsu up for this team to fill that role.

i think pops is fit in the running game that khan is planning...he's better than nate if we will be a running team but i prefer nate than pops b/c of his size....

I understand why we signed Hollins, and I'm not exactly mad at them for it, but I think it was a mistake. He's probably not going to pan out to be worth that contract. It's a pretty low risk, medium reward move though.

6 fouls x 82 games = 492 fouls

2.13 million / 492 = $4335 / foul.

Mom, dad, when I grow up I want to take fouls for a living...
