Brand is a shell of his former self, but he can play the craig smith role.

I would do it in a second.

You still have to pay $50 million dollars.

I love cap space like shrink, but I'd probably do it too

A 3 man big man rotation of Love, Brand, and Jefferson with Hollins as 4th
Gomes, Young, and Brewer as wings
Sessions and Flynn at the point

-Plus 2 picks that would for sure be in the top 10; we'd have a solid team.

Anytime you can take on one of the three worst contracts in the NBA, you have to do it.

I know the contract is bad, but we bring in a legit proven young forward, and a top-10 draft pick. We can potentially add 2 of Wall, Turner, Favors, Aldrich, etc. We put a vet Brand off the bench. I know we take on serious money but it is really worth it.

If he agrees to come off the bench I could see it working, but otherwise maybe not. Still, getting Young and a top 5 pick (assuming they don't get any better) is well worth the money.

Besides, they probably wouldn't even have him throughout his entire contract. As long as he stays healthy and produces someone will come calling, especially when he gets down to an expiring or 2 year deal.

I can't see him fitting into our team with Love and Jefferson already getting the majority of minutes.

As for Philly I guess they would move Brand with their 1st and like Holiday included but will hesitate to include Young.

Brand is about the last player I'd ever add to this team. That contract is beyond awful for a guy who's a shadow of his former self. And we already start 2 PF's.

Trading their pick doesn't help philly rebuild. Their salary situation isn't terrible. They won't have cap room anytime soon, but they're not going to be knee deep in lux hell either. They are begging people to take brand for expirings right now and no one is biting.

Thad Young will be a RFA in 2011 (along with Brewer).
Brand will make 18 million in 2012 when Love needs an extension.
The long term salary math just doesn't work unless your owner is paul allen.
