If they were thinking of losing $20Mil before that, they may actually make money this year. And all that without giving up much talent. They're right in the playoff hunt too, so they could have some income coming in there as well. I don't see how they're going to lose $55Mil over the next 18 months.

They were projecting losses of $20 mil/year when they had less salary and were below the previous lower lux. They had attendances of 14.2 and 14.3 and right now they are at 14.9. More likely, by sliding under the lux, they are looking at getting back to losses of $20 mil.

.. and note, that's ignoring additional losses from repaying debt, or the loss of team value.

So the only way for them to break even is to have a payroll below the cap number?

Payroll is only one expense (though the biggest), or they could increase revenues.

Should we say that about MIN? They are reported to have lost $20 mil last year.

You mean like last year when they were under? Certainly they knew their committed salaries for this year at that time. And are you suggesting then that they predicted losses of $45Mil this year without moves, but after all the moves they're now at $20Mil? I'm fairly confused by this whole "projected" talk, perhaps some links to these projections would help. Or were these just your projections?

Same ol' casey

I assume forbes is good enough, since you quoted it yourself, but just in case ..

NOH's attendance is retreating down closer to its previous, non-play-off levels. In addition, they still have $7 mil more salary than when these projections were made, and added additional debt as well.

Both of those are from 2008. I thought you meant that they projected a $20Mil loss for this season, not last season.

I tend to agree with those that think Chris Paul isn't really available. However...

Assuming his injury isn't serious to his long term NBA career, being out 2 months might make him more attractive to the Wolves in that we wouldn't be risking getting better this year and damaging lottery positioning.

This point may be more applicable if someone like Iggy, Deng, etc. gets injured between now and the deadline.
