MIN future 1st for CHA pick 16?

Post#1 » by shrink » Thu Apr 8, 2010 3:14 pm

It'll be nice after the lottery when we know the picks, but let me give you a scenario:

MIN ends up with the #3 pick, so we won't be adding an immediate star from the draft. The pick we owe LAC becomes unprotected after the 2011-12 season. Would you swap our current CHA pick (16) as insurance that we haven't improved and the pick we owe may be lottery?

Right now, I'd swap them in a minute. Worst case the pick is worth the same in 2012. Can't see us being better than a #7 or #8 seed by then :(

Don't think the Clippers do though.

I would, but I don't think LA would.

3 picks in this draft and in a different year we won't have any. I'd probably pull the trigger.

I'm actually leaning towards not doing the pick trade. I'd rather try to package 16 & 24 and try to move up a bit or get another player. It might very well work out that the year we lose our pick is the year Rubio comes over so we in essence get our draft pick that year. And we need to be winning some games by 2012 when it becomes unprotected anyway. I guess I'd be OK with this as an option but not my first option.

As lupus said, I'd rather package Char/Utah to move up, if possible, but if not, I'd have no problem sending the Charlotte pick to the Clippers for our pick back.

Wait, well, depends on who's available at #16 first. If Whiteside, Aldrich, Vesely, Motiejunas, or Henry are still sitting there, I'd prefer to keep the pick.

I'd expand on this and say that it would depend on how the draft shakes out up to that point. If we

1. Got Turner with our pick
2. Aldrich, Vesely, and Henry are gone before the Charlotte pick and
3. We had a reasonable chance to pick Paul George with the Utah pick

I'd have no qualms about doing this deal. If either of the first two don't happen, I really don't think I make that particular trade...I'd be scrambling to look for trades to add high level wing talent if we missed Turner, and several guys (IMO) are lottery talents and shouldn't be passed on at the Bobcats pick.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

probley not, we have enough young talent at the moment its time to try and move out of the draft stage
plus if theres a chance we could get James Anderson orEbanks we gotta take it,they could be real good
