Brew is a pretty solid all around player, it's just that his weaknesses (shooting, control, TO's) were at the point that a Freshman Highschooler was better. Now that his shooting and control are slowly improving, he is looking much better.

I'm waiting for the next game where he gets 5 TO and misses a few open looks for the haters to come out again, cuz I'll throw the Wiz game in their faces and say "patience young grasshopper"

Dr.Krapinsky wrote:He seems to be collecting himself before he shoots now. Much more in control. That's a lot easier because defenses have been daring him to shoot. That said, I hope he keeps it up. Last night was a good example of how much better our team is with some capable guard play.

Props to the Brewer supporters. I was one that didn't even want to pick up his option, but it looks like that might have been a good decision after all.

Agreed 100%. Corey has definitely come a long way on his jumpshot and we've talked about it before but he's really got the balance thing down now. He'll never be a prolific scorer but Corey is starting to prove that he can knock down a J if given the chance. He's playing a pretty darn good overall game lately now I want him to work on consistency. I agree with Jim Pete that Brewer is a pretty good barometer on how the team is playing on a given night. Using some simple logic, you can figure out that if we can get Brewer to play consistently well, our team will too. :D

He was outstanding against washington. Lets hope he continues to play like that (not counting on it, but it would be nice)

Who knows how he'll keep playing, but his last 5 games, he's put up

17-4-1-1 (pts-reb-assists-stls) on >50% FG and around 80% FT

with good defense. If he can do that consistently, he's starter quality. I don't have that much faith, but I think he can keep that FG% between 42-45 and keep up the defense and hustle, which would make him a keeper rotation player.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

big3_8_19_21 wrote:Yeah, I was pretty hesitant about picking up his option, but he really seems to be coming into his own. Some sweet defense and overall capable on offense...12 ppg on 42% from the field. That's all we need out of him. If he could bump it up a couple % and get the 3pt % to the mid 30's, that would be perfect.

Yeah, the shooting percentage needs to go up. He doesn't need to create his own offense, but he needs to make other teams guard him.

Day 1: I've been a Brewer supported through thick & thin, primarily, due to my opinion that the NBA needs to improve developing players. It was obvious Brewer was going to need 3 years, physically, before taking off - most wrote him off and thru him under the bus a long time ago. He has a ways to go, but I think he really is starting to establish himself. His Attitude, athleticism, and assertive habits are a recipe for success.

The NBA: Loves to draft prospects, but the game today revolves around MONEY and it gets tough for owners to give younger players the time they need to develop. The NBA must commit to changing this league of players into a teague of teams. Too often, GMs' allow selfish attitude and poor team mentallity to persist. For all of McHales blunders, I feel he did have the right approach to rebuilding a true team. As great as KG is, McHale was a huge factor in his development and status as a great all-around player.

Currently: Brewer, like the rest of the team, appears more ready to catch-n-shoot. Yes, his shot does LOOK much better as well. Spree was an all-star shooting low 40's, so I'm not quite as driven by that stat and a little more interested in seeing Brewer round out his game, defensively ... letting his shot continue to develop.

Bumped, in order for us to appreciate one of the few positives that came out of this season, and to relive the dunk on Fisher, over and over and over again. It really never gets old. :D

watching Corey drive to the hoop at full speed makes me cringe now that I've seen Bogut crashing down so hard.

The difference for me is that Foye and McCants thought themselves better players than they actually are/were. McCants especially was delusional in this way... comparing himself to Kobe or LeBron when he wasn't even starting consistently for the Wolves.

I think Brewer's a harder worker, and would look really good next to a scoring wing (Gay? Turner?) as others have said. He's a valuable piece, worth keeping long-term in the same role that Thabo Sefolosha has in OKC.

I think Brewer best off coming off the bench for the 2/3 getting about 25/30 minutes a game for energy, hustle, defense, and scoring bursts. Sorta like a JR Smith type.

meh, bogut's an injury-prone 7 ft Aussie. Brewer's too cordinated to let himself fall like that......wait a minute...mr. Lanky pants Brewer may not be as coordinated now that I think about it......I'm still confident that Brewer knows how to fall.

He has proven to me that he is a part of the future, before the season started i had doubts.
