Couple of roster questions

Post#1 » by Throwback24 » Tue May 4, 2010 10:13 pm

Not a T-wolves fan first and foremost. I'm using the T-Wolves in association mode in 2K10 and I wanted to make it as realistic as possible, which is why I've come to you all for help.

1. Does Kevin Love have a spot on the roster for the foreseeable future or do you suspect you guys will be using him as trade bait to address other roster needs?
2. Are you drafting for need or BPA? Seeing as how you already have Flynn and the rights to Rubio, do you think you'd draft Wall if you were in a position to do so? And if you do would you look to package him or deal away your other guards?

Now I know you guys aren't GM's, just wanted your guys opinion on the matter from a fan perspective.

Thanks.

Well, good work figuring out the 2 biggest questions we are all trying to answer regarding next season. :)

1. We are still trying to figure that out.
2. We are still trying to figure that out, but a lot of us would prefer Turner, but, god forbid we get the #1 pick, many of us think we would take Wall, but not rule out a trade for Turner + assets.

You could read through a few of our recent threads and try to figure out who has the most persuasive arguments, but, like I said, we're still trying to figure it out ourselves.

You've touched two issues where the fanbase is split pretty evenly. My opinions:

1. Trade bait.

2. Yes, we'd take Wall, but prefer a trade where we could pick up Turner + something.

As a wolves fan 2k is incredibly frustrating because you do not have Rubio or Pekovic. To make the wolves future realistic you will need both.

Do you have the rookie roster update? Where did you get it? I could not find one I liked.

I've done quite a bit of lurking myself and you guys appear to be just as confused as I am lol.

Rev - I found this pretty realistic draft set that has Rubio as a draft candidate in 2012. I figure you guys won't bring be bringing him over next year so I'll make due without him, and when he does become available I'll draft him. Don't know what to do about Pekovic though.

I don't like any of the rookie updates either. You're right in that with your teams prospects overseas and unavailable in 2K it changes the outlook/direction of your team.

With the way your teams constructed do you guys feel you'll be drafting a big man or forward with your two latter first round picks?

1. Keep the player you want to keep along or move Love to the bench as 6th man.

2. If you get wall take him. When you get Rubio if you like him better than Flynn, trade Flynn. If not, trade Rubio.

3. Get outside shooting ASAP!

1. One or both of Love and Jefferson will go.
2. I think if we get the #1
75% we keep Wall
20% we trade Wall for Turner + assets
5% we trade Wall for an existing player.

Personally I think Wall and Rubio could work together well.
Wall and Rubio having the same agent (fegan) complicates things now.
However, Wall is clearly the better asset and if push comes to shove we move rubio first, in my opinion.

We badly need elite wing talent. Center is a secondary priority if Darko returns. I wouldn't rule out a PG in the 2nd.

The OP would be a great question to ask Kahn during one of those Q & A sessions. Just use the excuse "it's for a nba2k league", and maybe he'll spill the beans.

On a more serious note, I think doing whatever YOU want to do would be best during this time frame. The Wolves options cover a pretty big spectrum, with many different ways to improve the team.
If it helps:
1. Kahn and Rambis want a running team
2. Rambis runs the triangle offense sometimes, which relies on passing and anticipating defensive movements.
3. Rambis likes players that do everything on the court, don't take any plays off, and don't pad stats.
4. We have a log jam at undersized + grounded bigs, as well as PG's that deserve playing time.
5. NOBODY on this team plays D execpt for Darko and Brewer.
6. We need shooting and perimeter talent.

My gut tells me that the team can work with one of Al or Love, but if we keep both with the current system we will be underutilizing one of them. It makes sense to trade one for value (but not just because we HAVE to, it's gotta be fair).
As much as I'd like to keep my favorites (Brewer, Love, & Al), NOBODY is untouchable.

Sessions Flynn
Turner Ellington
Brewer #16 and/or FA.
Big Al D. Favors
Darko Pekovic

I'm convinced that Love is the one to go. The only player not tradeable is Rubio. I'm not exactly sure how we'll get there, but I really believe that this is the "core" that Kahn tries to build around. I also believe Kahn throws money at Rudy Gay this summer.

That's a really nice line-up but it will be hard to get there. We would have to either trade for the 2nd or 3/4th pick which will be hard.
