But Turner is a better listener!

But will Wall + "what we can get for Rubio" be better than Turner + Rubio? That's the question.
One thing that can't be forgotten in comparing Rubio and Wall is how Rubio will make those around him better. Thus, although Wall individually may be better than Rubio, I wonder if a team with Rubio may be better than a team with Wall. Consider the case of John Salmons. Look how much better he was before and after playing off of Derek Rose. The same could be said for Shawn Marion or a number of present and former Suns. Take them away from Steve Nash and see what you get. A microcosm of this is Flynn vs. Sessions. It seems our team played a lot better with the pass first point guard.
Without a doubt we would be better with Wall and whoever we got from Rubio I believe.
But tonight after we fall it won't matter anyway
What if your options were:
Wall + Johnson
vs.
Rubio + Turner

Wall and Johnson for me. I think Rubio has the potential great player and Wall has the potential to be superstar.
Turner is a better player then Johnson but I don't think it's big enough of a difference.
I think Wall is a superstar player and I would not pass on em.

I'm a little worried we get Turner and he has a Johnny like year adapting to the triangle. Things could get ugly fast. If we get Wall, do we think about changing the entire offensive system for him?

I don't see what choices we have if we got Wall or Turner and they did not fit, because if the coach doesn't adjust the coach is usually gone.
But I think both will be fine as rookie no matter the system.

Yipes, I meant WALL not TURNER. I'm talking about our classic PG/triangle fit issue.

From Chad Ford chat
Chris (Nashville TN)
If the Wolves were to win the draft lottery tonight, should they stick w/ the sure thing and draft Evan Turner at #1, or if they decide to trade down, what current players could they receive in trading down?
Chad Ford (1:16 PM)
I think you take Wall. All 14 teams most likely take Wall and then figure out what to do (either trade him or trade someone else on the roster or figure out how to work him in with existing players). I've heard through a source that they are very, very high on Evan Turner. He's a better fit given their existing personnel and one source told me that they've given signals to Turner that he'd be the No. 1 pick if they won it. However, I think the most likely scenario is the Wolves take Wall and then start negotiating.
Lee (Fargo)
Could Wall and Rubio play together? They both seem long enough to guard most 2's, but they would need some shooters around them.
Chad Ford (1:36 PM)
Yes, I think they could
David Stern (New York)
Who should the NBA give the first pick in the draft to?
Chad Ford (1:58 PM)
I'll play the our NBA Draft Lottery Machine one time and let's see what the computer says ...The winner of the 2010 NBA Draft Lottery is: The Minnesota Timberwolves.Have fun at the draft lottery tonight. I'll be there and file a new mock draft 15 to 30 minutes after the lottery concludes. Look for it on ESPN.com tonight!\

Interesting quotes.
I have heard that Wall/Turner could co-exist in the triangle too. I run aspects of the triangle with my HS and we can do offensive dual pgs easily. As long as both guys work off the ball and have the physical tools.
I do disagree with one thing. If Utah wins the lotto they do not take Wall.

^ They might, just for pure value sake. Wall could just be a huge energy 6th man for a season if they don't get a deal to get a bigger defensive center/pf. Lets just hope we don't have to worry about what they'll do with Wall..

Re: Wolves might take Turner #1
I read about a couple interesting trades somewhere if the Wolves do happen to snag the #1 pick and NJ gets #2.
Wolves draft Wall. Wolves trade Wall + Jefferson to NJ for Turner + Lopez + whatever needed to make salaries work.
Flip Flynn to Portland for Fernandez. Since Portland is low on Fernandez right now, the Wolves probably wouldn't have to give up that much. Rubio sees his buddy in a Wolves uniform and decides to come over early.
Rubio/Sessions
Turner/Fernandez/Ellington
Brewer/Gomes
Love/Pekovic
Lopez/Milicic/Hollins
Maybe package the 16 and/or the 23 with Brewer to strengthen the SF position.
What do you guys think?

Works for me but I doubt NJ bites on that. I think they'd be happy with Turner and Lopez.
