Kahn's message to season ticket holders

Post#1 » by PeeDee » Wed May 19, 2010 10:18 pm

Dear PeeDee,

Take a deep breath.

I wanted to reach out today to let you know that the sky is not falling, despite what you may have read on your computer or in your local daily. Yesterday's draft lottery marked just the beginning of our offseason, which now will be based not on luck but on hard work, preparation and creativity. An offseason that promises to be one of the busiest in our team's history. An offseason in which we will work tirelessly to use the assets that we have so carefully stockpiled.

As of this morning, we sit with not only the fourth overall pick but also Nos. 16 and 23 in the first round, along with two second-rounders. But that is as of this morning: As we demonstrated last June, we will be willing to add picks or try to switch positions if it means adding a player we determine can become a core piece of our ballclub during the next several years. And let's not forget the lesson of Sacramento from last season, which on lottery night slipped three positions, not two, to the fourth pick and drafted Tyreke Evans, who ended up earning this year's Rookie of the Year honors.

We actually are better positioned than most teams to change the ballclub this summer - we are no longer burdened by bad contracts, and in addition to our five draft picks we have additional assets. Millions in cap room, and the rights to two of Europe's best talents in 19-year-old Ricky Rubio and 24-year-old Nikola Pekovic. Ricky has only increased his value by his play in Europe this past season and Pekovic is coveted by many teams and ready to come to the NBA.

Meanwhile, our current players are already in the gym working for next season. Kurt Rambis worked one-on-one with Kevin Love twice in Los Angeles this week. Assistant coach Dave Wohl is working with Al Jefferson and Ryan Hollins in Vancouver, B.C., as I write this.

As I promised last year when I joined this franchise, we will not be outworked, outhustled or outprepared. We've cranked up the office coffee machines into overdrive and will be working around the clock to make our team better. Yesterday marks just the beginning - not the end - of our long journey this summer. It's an exciting time to be a Wolves fan and I appreciate you joining our Pack and coming along on the ride.

Since rehab started Al has pretty much stayed the hell away form Mississippi. He has spent a lot of time in Minnesota and other places because every time he goes home and eats that homemade food it screws with his fitness. He's trying to get into optimal physical shape. Also, with some of his recent family issues he suffered this year, he may be happy to spend some time away from home anyway.

Because in this context I find it remarkably funny.

Its nice to see Kahn is quick to put out a letter even if it is just to recap the situation and remind us what we have. A letter like this would come about three weeks later from Kev Mc telling us that he planned to spend the week of the draft scouting prospects upon his return from the lake house.

I would like to know from Kahn when exactly he took a part time job with the Grizzlies lol

BOOO!

Getting lucky in the lottery meant not having to spend all our assets on what we wanted. Putting all our eggs into the lottery basket will come back to haunt us in one way or another.

I also hope he wasn't serious will all the coffee talk, sometimes too much caffine can lead to poor-quick-hasty decisions, (like trading too much for Turner or anyone else).

hotshotschamp on kfan caught this. I don't put too much weight into the Rubio comment because this is something we have already discussed in great length.
