We can't do anything better than trading Big Al.

Thats a shame. i didn't know you guys liked the pick so much. i have a couple questions though. would you guys take wes johnson instead of cousins if you keep the pick? and would you guys trade us jefferson without us giving up the pick? i do really like jefferson but i like cousins more because hes younger, cheaper, and can probably play center better. i don't like jefferson as a center but more as a PF.

I can't see us trading down to #7. If we're scared by Cousins attitude, maybe we'll trade down a spot or two and take the player we're more comfortable with but that's it.

Pistons can offer good value overall, but they can't offer us a blue chip prospect and I think most of us feel Cousins has blue chip potential and we need that more than a collection of solid talent

Not so much. Cousins is the BPA and I think we increase our chances of getting Wesley Johnson in a trade with Sacramento by drafting and keeping Cousins at #4. There isn't really any player from Detroit that I think really fits here, so the pick would definitely have to go (either directly to us or to Sacramento in a 3 way trade).

I guess there's many reasons why. The younger, cheaper, center thing is just part of it. Love and Jefferson can't coexist, we desperately need BPA, and we're still rebuilding (next year will be the last year I promise),

If I'm Minny I take Cousins and see if Jefferson/Rubio gets it done for Granger/filler. Some Minny fans may balk at that as too much, but Jefferson's value is low right now, and I'm also not as high on Rubio as most are. A Granger/Love/Cousins frontcourt is a nice building block. Then you can maybe get a guy like George or Henry at #16. Flynn/Henry/Granger/Love/Cousins.

I think we'd have to overpay for Granger. He's not being shopped around, so we would have to offer a lot to pry him from their hands. Iguodala could be a good possibility.

Rubio and Jefferson is overpaying, I think. And I wouldn't do it.

Considering the money Philly is already paying Brand, I doubt they would want a long-term PF deal like Jefferson. From everything I'm seeing, they believe they can go Turner at 2, Iguodala at 3. If they did trade Iguodala, I'm guessing they would be looking to clear salary and get another pick or young player over adding a long-term PF contract.

I know we all set our definitions differently, but I don't see Granger, Iguodala or Jefferson as superstars, and that's what we need. Its very unlikely Cousins will ever reach that level either, and I'm not saying his trade value is better or worse, but we'd be sacrificing our chance at what we need by giving up this asset in trade. I think the upside we place in Rubio and #4 makes it too hard to find a fair deal where we trade them, unless the return brings even higher upside -- though not necessarily a better expected value player like Iguodala or even Granger. I just don't think Granger can get any better.

If Rubio turns out to be the superstar we all I think he can be then we are quite well set up to take guys to fit with him. Thats why I want Johnson (at this stage)

But he's not a superstar in Europe and he's never played in the NBA. I think he has the tools to be a great NBA player, but I'm not ready to start filling in the roster next to the ghost of Rubio. If he's a true superstar, it shouldn't matter anyways, he should shine through regardless. We can make trades later, for now we need to aim for the absolute best talent possible.

Yea, I don't think that you build around Rubio right now. Anyway, any of the guys in the top 5 (Favors, Cousins, Johnson, Turner) would fit well with Rubio.
