I should point out the financial implication here.
Let's set aside Beasley's attitude problems for a second here. When you're trading assets for a young player that you hope will improve, you're generally getting someone on a decent rookie contract. Since SCB was picked second, he costs a full $5 mil this year, and next year he'd cost $6.2 - more than an MLE player!
And note that we are trading an asset here -- raw cap space.
Now I'm all for upside guys, and Beasley has lots of potential. But there are serious costs here between the loss of cap space, and how his attitude would affect him and our other young players.

I would rather use gomes for draft maneuvering. That contract is as good as a mid-1st, if dealt to the right team, and I'd rather have henry, george, or babbitt than beasley.

I think this deal would be done if nothing else looked like it was going to happen. So it should be treated like that.
