Wolves/Pistons Trade Idea
Don't kill me but the Wolves need a true SG that's a Vet and wont to cut ties with Big Al.So here a trade idea that would help the Wolves now and in the offseason next year.I know I am selling Big Al short but can't think of another good trade idea.
Wolves Get:
SG-Rip Hamilton
PF-Chris Wilcox
2011 First Round Pick
Pistons Get:
PF/C-Al Jefferson
SF-Corey Brewer
This gives us a true SG thats a Vet and leader in Rip that can help the team grow over the next few years and should help them win now.Plus he also can make his own shot. Then we get a vet back up big for a season in Wilcov and would also free up $5M after the season and a future first round pick that we could use on a young SG to back up and replace Rip in a few years.
For the Pistons it gives them two guys that can start now and a possible All-Star and 20-10 if healthy in Big all. Then they would also have a nice young starting team of Stucky,Gordon,Brewer,Jefferson and Monro.

This doesn't solve our problems. Might improve our win total THIS year but down the road it will turn ugly. Hamilton is older, ugly contract, and Wilcox is Wilcox.

Well maybe I could change it two Ellington/Hollins instead of Brewer. But I real don't know were Brewer fits in on the team now with Johnson,Webster,Haywarda and whoever we trade for and or sign at SG.Their no minutes for him.

I would rather just give Jefferson for free to a team that strikes out in free agency then to take on those players from Detroit

Just because you can't see where Brewer fits, doesn't mean he is a throw in...even if you think Brewer has zero talent, he can still be treated as an expiring. (needs QO next summer)
I agree, that the minute crunch is true if everyone sticks on the roster, but that doesn't mean you should think like Kahn and throw value out the window...

Re: Wolves/Pistons Trade Idea
Maybe it just me but I think Hamilton would be a great fit for the Wolves and would probably be the best we can get for Al Jefferson.Dave Kahn has done a terrible job of shopping him i.e he has real killed his trade value due to everyone know the want and need to move him.So why should another team give them good to great young proven talent i.e Ellis,AI2....ect
So I feel the best move would be for Rip.He fills more then one need on our team i.e starting SG that can create his own shot and is a proven winner and leader. His contract isn't great but he does make a half a mill less then Jefferson per year and in two years could be a huge trade chip. While Wilcox would fill the back up PF spot for the year while Bjelica is over seas for this year and gives us $5M in cap space next off season.

We don't NEED to move him

Re: Wolves/Pistons Trade Idea
I probably dislike Rip less than most MN fans because I dont think he loses as much of his game as he ages, compared to guys who rely primarily on athleticism. But I still dont care for this....some team will have to be paid to take him, not give up their best player in a trade for him. And, adding Brewer just makes it worse.

Re: Wolves/Pistons Trade Idea
We do not need a SG. We need a playmaker. Someone that can take the ball and create off the dribble. Rip cannot do that and would only take shots from Johnson/Webster.
I do not like this trade at all.

No thanks on this trade. No decent value for Wolves. If Al is traded it must be for either future picks or a decent young 2. If this is unattainable then hold on to Al.

Re: Wolves/Pistons Trade Idea
No reason to trade Al at this point, as we didn't draft anyone that will take away real minutes at PF. Now we can let him play this season to increase his value, then we'll see. The draft did make it almost a necessity to sign Darko though, so I expect to see him here. The biggest question mark is probably Pekovic, but I still expect him to either be traded, or stay in Europe for yet another year.
