Webster's basically an expiring next year. He's only guaranteed $600K the final year of his contract.

A year from now they may very well be looking to extend Martell Webster's contract in my opinion.

If you know you are going to use the 2nd round to stash Euros than I think Lazar is the exact kind of player you take at 30. If I am going to pay guaranteed money to a guy, I want it to be someone who will actually contribute to my team. I fully expected it to be whiteside, but lazar is definitely more of a complete player today. I think my biggest complaint would be I don't know how much better Johnson and Hayward can get, but they are both really polished players (and incredible locker room guys) already.

What I like is the fact that we are not simply taking high upside / project players like a lot of teams like the Clippers and Hawks do to rebuild. I think these are the type of guys who build a bench, and build a culture. I wanted a superstar too, but I don't think we were finding Durant at 4.

I'm warming up to this pick. I didn't even really know who he was coming into the draft, and only saw him in like the 50's in mocks. Being close to Marquette, that was probably the only reason I noticed him at all. That, and a name like LaZaR is pretty rockin.

Now we know why the 16 to MEM for 25 and 28 had legs, We defineately wanted Nemanja (or whatever) and knew there was another solid prospect who could contribute right away later on. Funny thing is, if we'd of Kept the 32 in that basically unnecessary Etan Thomas for Wilkins deal, we could've just taken Nemanji at 32, and still had the 23 to mess around with......maybe being able to package 16+23 for a higher pick? (or still do the deal, and end up with picks 30, 32, 35. Hello Euro talent).

I'm actually warming up on Lazar Hayward, I hope he becomes a very nice role player for us. :D

Also, it just hit me recently. How come, when we pick/draft someone unknown or rather someone that's not as high profile as other players. We get bashed so quickly. But if other teams, like say the Spurs, pick someone relatively unknown, most columnist would label their pick as a hidden gem already. I guess this might be because of their proven track record.

Although, it's still too early to judge Kahn, Ronzone and Rambis if they already have a proven track record in finding talents. Anyways, I guess this is just a part of being a Wolves fan.

I had Hayward at #29 on my Wolves draft board, so I didn't mind him in the late 1st round at all....though I did rank 6 guys ahead of him that happened to get picked in the 2nd round, so what do i know
