DET-MIN-DAL

Post#1 » by shrink » Mon Jul 19, 2010 6:44 pm

I thought this was a pretty nice trade by vege. Its receiving some very complimentary responses on the trade board, so I thought I'd bring it over.

http://games.espn.go.com/nba/tradeMachi ... Id=27h5dou

Detroit Out: Chris Wilcox / DaJuan Summers / Minny 2nd
Detroit In: Ramon Sessions / 2,9 million TPE from Dallas (Kris Humphries's TPE)

They add a true point guard.

Minny Out: Ramon Sessions
Minny In: DaJuan Summers / Minny 2nd returned

They get out of Sessions contract and add a young winger and their likely high 2nd round pick back.

Dallas Out: 2,9 million TPE (Kris Humphries's TPE)
Dallas In: Chris Wilcox

They add a cheap big body to back up Dirk without give up absolutely anything.

That is it. Flame away i guess

I am not 100% sure if Detroit owe Minny's 2nd round pick this year, i know they owe 3, their own, Toronto's 2nd and i think the 3rd is Minny's second. If it's not it can be replaced by Detroit or Toronto's 2nd.

A few flaws I see --

the TPE should go to MN, Detroit can't take it here

I don't think Dallas is going to want to pay $5.8M for Chris Wilcox consider they're in the lux

I don't think Detroit really helps themselves here since they're thin upfront and have two point guards already (Bynum is sure to return).

I'll defitiely take vege's deal over CLE's Delonte West for Sessions and Koufos:

cap space = cap space
Sunmers > $500,000 for nothing to buy out West
MIN high 2010 2nd > nothing
not giving up Koufos > nothing

Detroit doesn't own MN's pick, so he's wrong there.

I'm also not sure if having Koufos and Summers on the books for a total of $2M is better than West's buyout and capspace.

Also consider, West might be easily moved to a team that would like him at his current contract -- like Boston (Wallace) or Phoenix (TPE) in which case we wouldn't even have to pay his buyout.

Koufos and Summers on the bench is relatively harmless I think. Sessions as a third stringer is what bothers me.
