The drug comments were against the rules. It is a part of David Kahn's job responsibilities to know and follow the rules. Therefore the fine. That said, $50 large is small potatoes for a fine from the NBA, and I think this can be viewed as a slap on the wrist reminder of the rules. No biggie.

Kahn just needs to take it easy, stop talking for awhile...sit the next couple of plays out, if you know what I mean.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''

I dont see it being a problem at all. Everyone already knew (or pretty much knew) that he was hittin the bong anyway... Beasley shouldnt mind, especially if he's not doing it anymore (which, i bet that he is, just not as much as he used to). Beasley doesnt seem like the feller that would get irritated by some little comment like that. The only thing i dont like is that, it gives him an excuse as to why he didnt grow as a player more last year, because smokin a little reefer shouldnt affect his game at all... Unless its makin him lazy and therefore he's not working on his game as much. Which it sounds like was the case. but **** idk, nobody knows cept for Beasley. (Lets hope he knows anyway)

I'm not sure how Beasley would've reacted.

Remember Barkley's 'Tito Jackson' comment? Beasley actually admitted that Barkley got in his head after a poor performance immediately following the comment. I don't doubt his ability, but his perceived mental frailty is of some concern to me. Here's hoping he can play to his full potential here and grow in confidence.

Yes. I think a big part of the Kahn/Rambis idea is that we can be a player-friendly and strong player development team. Getting a player like Beasley w so much upside but so many head issues will certainly test that theory.

This, to me, this is one of the most compelling story lines our team has going. If we can come out and win some games with career play from Darko, Martell and Beas, be a good destination for a euro like Pek and a place where young talents like Wes and Ellington can come and shine early, then that on its own is an accomplishment and one that will pay dividends in terms of players being willing (or, gasp, even excited) to come here.

If, on the other hand, Darko, Martell and Beasley have career average years, it really doesn't matter what the rest of the team does. At that point we're still a pile of cast-offs and could've beens.

I understand. Something like "Beasley had some known issues stemming from a lack of immaturity that seems to have been resolved" would have been better and still got the point across.

I agree. that's pretty much where I am coming from. I think Kahn was just trying to be straightforward as he usually does but he made a poor choice in directly saying what he said. If he said it like you suggested there wouldn't be a fine and nobody would be talking about this.

Its an interesting question.

If someone calls you "immature" and it makes you mad, you can do one of two things:

1. Act immaturely about it.

2. Act maturely and prove him wrong.

I am afraid that Beasley's more of a #1 kind of guy.
