Darko when he came over was a nobody...

Pekovic was recognized as the best center in Europe...

His post game is really good...He's super fundamental. Think Luis Scola. Not too quick and can't jump highest. Plays like a better Glen Davis.

Defensively, he's gonna have problems, but on offense he can tear it up.

Wow and 290 lb~!>>>?

He's put on good 20-30 lb .....be it muscle or fat...

290 is too much, he must go 20, 30 down.

If it's muscles then it's not too much. We need a strong C who can score on anyone.

Trust me Pekovic is strong enough, you will see it. But if he get too much weight, it will become slower.

Pekovic's body structure is nothing i've ever seen. The dude not the tallest big guy, nor has the biggest mucles in the world, he's not fat, yet he weighs almost 300 pounds. :o Has probably the strongest core in NBA, the guy just a natural freak. There is no way anybody can stop him in the post. With that much strength, a lower center of gravity compared to most big guys, no way anybody can prevent him to ass his way to the basket. Just a f'n animal. Can't wait to see him play, he will be the perfect compliment to Love's skillset. If he can adjust, he will be the starting center at some point.

The refs can (and will) stop him, at least until he adjusts.

can't tell if that's sad or kind of cool. Cool in a "people who love monster trucks and date chain-smoking waitresses with 3 kids are actually kind of cool for some reason" kind of way

It's cool in Serbian kind of way. :)

Yes, I know he's from Montenegro but I thought he is Serbian (as an ethnic group, not nationality). Maybe I'm wrong on that. Can somebody clarify?

I believe you could be a Serb/Serbian (used interchangeably?) or a Montenegrin by ethnicity and a Serbian or Montenegrin by citizenship/region. I'm not sure what Pekovic is as I've seen him referred to as both a Serbian and a Montenegrin. If I had to guess I would assume C.lupus has it right. However, I don't think there is much of a cultural distinction there, it's more of how each individual identifies his or herself, so it's not like you would be offending a Serb or a Montenegrian by mixing it up.

Technically, when Pekovic was born in 1986, neither Serbia or Montenegro existed. They were both a part of the Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavia. So, that makes both Pekovic and Darko (born in 1985) Socialist Federal Republic of Yugoslavians.

But he's got his awesome nick name that sounds rather lame if you use Serbian instead if Montenegrian.

The Serbian Rapist or The Montenegrian Rapist? It's, of course, the latter one!
