I'm hoping we see more driving from Beas, both when defenders try to crowd him to take away the jumper, and when his long jumper % drops to a less awesome level. From his statements about driving and getting more free throws, I have hopes that he has an idea of what he needs to do.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

He has averaged 32.6 points a game -- the most prolific five-game stretch in team history next only to Kevin Garnett's 34.4 average in 2000

Any guy can get how for a few stretch and look like a franchise player. It doesn't mean they are the next Carmelo Anthony or Chauncey Billups.

Obviously everything is pointing in the right direction with him, but let's not get ahead of ourselves.

I'm with TheFranchise on this one. Obviously I want to be giddy about what we've seen from Beasley in the last five games, but we've seen him on and off the court for two years as well. I've liked everything I've seen out of Beasley since he got here, and I'm going to hope for the best, but I'm not going to annoint the guy franchise savior yet, just because we need one so bad, and he has the potential.

I'm far more hopeful with Beasley than Foye, but I agree. It's too soon to call Beasley a franchise player, or even an All-Star caliber player.

All beasley needed was confidence but when you have coach like Spoelstra who is all about defense and no offense there is not much he can do. Beasley was on a leash by Spoelstra because he favored hustle/defensive guy in Udonis over him. I'll being saying since he was drafted that he would be better than Chris Bosh and Amare. I still remember those 20pts/quarter games that he had but would be bench the entire 4th quarter because of Haslem. Next year with Rubio and prospect/FA Center then this team will click.

Somebody asked Beasley on Thursday if he has ever been in a groove like the one in which he has scored 42, 35, 25, 28 and 33 in the past five games. That 42 at Sacramento is a career high.

"I've been in a groove like this my whole life," said Beasley, who doesn't turn 22 until January. "Except for Miami."

I like how Flynn is really being a part of this squad without being on the floor, reminding Beasley of who he can be. He showing some real good leadership qualities.

It's early, but yes, the early returns look good. He's just playing so well within the offense, taking his open looks, he hardly forcing anything, which makes hitting jumpers easy really.

When you adjust for the natural excitement over the fact that Beasley's averaging 32.6 ppg on a 60.4 TS% over a 5 game stretch that has coincided with the Wolves finally playing competitive basketball, I think all people are really saying is this, and that we're seeing signs that Beasley may be able to realize that potential. For a franchise that's been so moribund and rudderless for so long, that's something to be ecstatic about.

I agree. He has a very nice start-low one step spin move that creates separation. I would like to see him add a euro step and a more consistent jump stop. In the post he has very good moves and fades well. It is just about fixing the tools you have and using them at the right time. If they are gonna give you space then shoot the jumper. I am not critical about the shot selection. I just worry because it is rare to shoot this kind of clip for a long time.
