Webster, at 23, definately a role player in Portland, has his best days ahead of him. If he can be a starting SG that provides solid defense and averages 15-16 points per game on good percentages, well, I'll take that at $5M over Steve Nash playing in place of Flynn or Rubio for $11/12M or whatever he makes. I really don't see much merit with the opposing arguement on this one.

Webster has never averaged 15-16 ppg on good percentages, hell he's never had good shooting percentages period, so that's a huge assumption. I don't think that anyone would actually pull the trigger on this, but I do think it would make us a lot better this year and funner to watch.

In his six preseason games with the Wolves. Obviously, not a great indicator, but in that short time he definitley looked as good, if not better, playing with a bad back in our system then he ever did with the Blazers where he was asked to stand in the corner and play a Trenton Hassell role. Maybe you think it's a big assumption, but I don't think Kahn and Rambis do or they wouldn't have made that trade. I know I'm a big Kambone Homer on here, but I think Webster will be good.

I like the idea of getting Nash, too. But that's too much. And really, I wonder if I don't like the idea of going after Nash more than I would the reality.

I think the reality is that a team would have to overpay to get him. And I'm not OK with that.

If Love really is on the block, I could see a Love + 1st round pick for Nash type deal. Even that, though, seems like a lot past a few years. Love has years left, so we better get something worth years of value in return for him.

We have Flynn, Rubio, and Ridnour, and you could see a Love PLUS a first for Nash deal? Is this because you have teeth for eyes? Because I'm certainly not seeing that one.

I could see it being the kind of deal that some people would make. I'm not sure how on board I am with it. I admit, I'm a bit irrationally impressed with Nash's awesomeness. So I think about that trade and I say, no, it sucks! Then I say, hmmmm, well... and repeat.

FWIW, I'm with you, Krap, I would really rather leave this lineup alone. I think this is the best team we've had in a long time, and the best foundation we've had probably ever.

If I was writing a trade for Nash, it would be Flynn & Prestes and the Utah 1st, or something like that. Not that the Suns would do that, no matter that they're still getting a good deal.

Guys - I haven't seen people overvalue assets like this since my last trip to the Knick board.

Ya I'm happy we are improved. There is a world of difference between Nash and Flynn/Luke/Bassey, as players, mentor's and leaders. That difference has value.

Take an honest look at the deal; the wolves still get the better end of it.

I don't believe that Flynn/Wes and the Utah first for Nash is too far out of line.

It doesn't even matter if we "win the trade" in terms of getting a better deal. I don't want to risk losing Rubio over this.

1) it's not a good deal based on Nash's trade value -- who else would top that offer?
2) It's not a good deal for the Wolves long term.

Nash isn't for sale though, we have to get their attention. As for #2, I don't want Nash or Richardson long term, I want them for this season and next, then let them expire, or maybe s&t one of them... I just don't see your guys' dream as possible. We can't extend the young stars, add a bunch of first rounders, and take on some onerous contract like Iguodala or whatever, Portland and Chicago have shown that you can't keep your young stacked team of B+ prospects together because some team is always willing to give them A+ money in free agency and **** up our sweet plan we had all figured out years in advance. I'd rather get Nash, get J-rich, let them do their thing for this season and next, let the team develop a winning culture, be a legitimately good team instead of a plucky young team w/ potential to be good at some point in the far off distant future, then let the vets go as the young vets take over in 2 years. I'm not worried about alienating Rubio, w/ Nash the plan is clear: learn 1 season behind a great mentor, then take over. With Flynn, who knows, you might never start. Flynn might outplay you and keep outplaying you. As far as what we're giving up, 2 protected picks and 4 underachieving young players, 3 are out w/ injuries.

I'd like to wait and see what Flynn does when he gets back. (when are we not waiting on someone to get healthy?) we also seem to have a lot of "B+" guys. I'm a C++ guy myself. I'm all for consolidating talent but I don't think Nashty is worth that price.
