When you say Darko agreed to a reasonable contract, you make sound like he sacrificed money to be here and that's just not true. We gave him more than anyone else in the NBA would have. Darko has the ability to make it look like a reasonable contract or maybe even a bargain, but I don't he did us a huge favor by signing the contract.

actually yea that's true, even if Darko becomes MVP of the regular season and a 4 time all star the contract will still technically be indefensible because Kahn could have in theory gotten him for much cheaper.
Then again Darko has an agent (like all NBA players) and it's not so far fetched to suggest European teams weren't willing to pony up wayyy more.

I don't about way more, that seems unlikely. If European teams were willing to pay that much, they'd be stealing more NBA players.
And I'm not saying Darko's contract was indensible, just that we paid him more than anyone else would have. If Darko outperforms the contract, then it was a smart move.

definitely not "way more", but considering that euro-contract-numbers are generally post-taxes he might have gotten maybe 60-70% of what he´s getting in Minnesota on a 2 or 3 year deal, then factor in his general bad NBA experience and him being a young father (where it´s only natural to 2nd guess if you don´t want that child to grow up closer to your home country + look for some stability) i´d say the Wolves paid about as much and a contracts as long as he needed to keep him.

+1.
He could've easily chosen less money somewhere in Greece, nice place, close to his home in Serbia, playing for titles with Pao or Oly. The guy made a lot of money already, I think this contract is his smallest contract, even his rookie deal may be bigger than this one. And he doen't look the type that wastes money on his posse, henessy & wh*r#s.

he rapes the daughters of incompetent officials, prolly never even occured to him to shell out his hard earned money for something as trifling as consent

Pretty sorry lot.

I'll take Darko over most of these guys.

If everyone was healthy the majority of these guys are better than Darko.

Not for long.

He would agree to play for 5 million for 4 years, if you get the minutes there. But this is his manager who was pushed to 20 million.

Even if Darko doesn't drastically improve, he's still worth every single penny.

Maybe, but he is in USA from his tenage days(17 years). Is accustomed to living in the USA, it is now his second home. Better same money in USA than Greece,Italy..., where he would change his life in 360 degrees, moving...this is easy, stay here + play.

It sure is scary how good Darko is becoming. Its such an exciting time to be a wolves fan. The guy is an amazing passer, defensive player and is really coming on offensively. Who would have thought....

I don't think many centres in the league want to come up against Darko this season, he is tearing up the league. NBA league leader in blocks and 3 straight 20 plus games damn.
