Whether he's elite or not, you can't assume you can just get him for fair value.

It's too early to say what's fair value for him. He might not even put his name in the hat b/c of the lockout. Just a nonsensical notion to be thinking about trading our players for college players right now.

In the case of Flynn, I don't think so. If we think Rubio's coming we've got too many point guards, and it's not as if we've seen Jonny set the world on fire. If we can get great value for him we have to consider it.

That much is obvious. I guess I'm not arguing against this exact trade per say, because Sacramento would never do it, but I'm arguing against a more realistic version, say minimum top 3 protection. I don't mean to be changing the rules as we go, but that's more of what my mindset is in defending all these Flynn trades.

I don't think we'll lose much just by waiting to see for ourselves which one is better (Rubio or Flynn) and then trading the other. If an unprotected first from a bottom dweller comes along that's a different story, I guess, but I'm too confident hinging our hopes on Rubio at this point. Too many questions with Rubio for me to feel comfortable trading a player like Flynn with a lot of upside. Does Rubio even come over next year? Will he be as good as we expect him to be? When he comes over will he be happy or hate it here?

Our best SG hasn't even played a minute yet. You want to upgrade the position? Last week people wanted upgrade the center position. Be patient people. No reason to be making trades until we see what we got. Our player's values aren't going to go down between now in February.

I'm not jumping the gun at all. I'll be patient with Webster but from his history I highly doubt he can stay healthy and possibly best suited off the bench as an energy guy with Brewer or Johnson. Then again he's still young. All I'm saying is that if you want to upgrade, look at the wing position. FWIW, we could use another center until Pek learns the NBA game. Not feelin Koufos, definitely an "upgrade" out there but we have nothing to lose this season anyways.

for perry jones to be a elite in the nba he needs to play the three and develop more of a perimeter game and also needs to attack more.. with dunn back i see perry being the third option on that baylor team.

I doubt this is at all possible but how about trading Johnny Flynn, first round draft pick or two and someone like Corey Brewer for Trek Evans ?

If we could somehow get this done you would have a super young team in '11 with Rubio/Evans/Beasley/Love/Darko and have a bench of Ridnour/Johnson/Webster/Tolver/Pekovic and a maybe add a player or two threw the draft and or free agency. This team should be enough to be a playoff team in '11.

Evans trade would have to involve Love and probably Wes. I like Evans a lot, but not sure he meshes very well w/ Beasley

I don't want Tyreke Evans. He's a headcase and I don't think he can work together with Rubio (both need to be the primary ball handler) and Beasley (both want to be the primary scorer).

Yeah I wanted Evans last year, but there's too much drama for it to be worth it.

So what if he is a third option on Baylor. Rubio is like 7th option on Barcelona, doesn't make him any less of a prospect.

what im trying to get at is perry needs to show that attack mode attiude for the wolves whom will have a top 5 pick in this years draft...to be a top 5 pick you need to show that you will be a game changer rather then a fill in

If/when we trade Flynn it will be this spring in a package to add to our core. (See consolidating assets. Brewer/Flynn/numerous picks.) Or something on draft day when we officially have Rubio confirmed.

Right now, (as mentioned earlier) Flynn is a key locker room guy on a young team. There is no need to force trade those players. let him stay, let him work up his value. Who knows, maybe he really plays well and then we move the older Ridnour. Regardless, do not move damaged goods.
