The team has received calls from several Western Conference teams regarding Randolph. A Knicks source tells Frank Isola that the most compelling discussions have been with the Rockets, with one scenario seeing the Knicks re-acquire the first-round pick they traded to Houston before last year's trade deadline.

I'd bet good money one of them was Minnesota after all of the Randolph related rumours we saw in the offseason. But that Houston offer might be a tough one to top.

As far as Randolph, I'd love him for this team and especially with Tolliver out he'd fill an immediate need. His versatility would be a nice change of pace off the bench and there's the obvious potential. All I'd be worried about is that he's adjusting, and it might take a while, that the team might not have the most patience.

Still, to get him for either the Utah or Memphis picks would be a steal.

I wrote it in the other thread. Give me Randolph for one of those picks any day.

I still think Randolph is way overrated but we could get him for a pick and a little bit of cap space, I'd be all over that.

I wonder if Denver might prefer a pick that was delayed a year like the Memphis one is looking like so far. This years draft could be really bad if most don't come out.

I think you're right, that a delayed pick would be more valuable, but in a situation where a team is trading away the face of their franchise, they may need to show fans some return as soon as possible ... especially if the deal contains major payroll reduction, which is something most casual fans can't appreciate.

The thing I like most about getting involved in a deal here is that I think its a situation where we can get the best value out of our assets. Like we did with MIA, and HOU did last year with NYK, you're trading cap space or picks to give a team a shot at a franchise-changing player, so teams are willing to overpay a little. Moreover, we can offer specifically the assets that fit their particular need.

I'd do it for just a pick but I hope we keep all other assets just in case Philly decides to accept an Iggy salary dump.

Call me crazy, but I'd give both the late firsts we got in the Al trade for him. That would get it done, I'd think.

I wouldn't hate that.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

No way do I give two 1st rounders for a role player.

Me neither. He's not worth two 1st this close to the end of his rookie deal.

I would. That's overpaying with the way he's been playing so far in his career.

Shrug. The Jazz pick is probably late 20s, and the Memphis pick will be in the mid teens. I'd rather make trade for a vet with those picks, because I'd rather have Iggy or even Mayo more than Randolph, but it's not like there's going to be a superstar player that we'd be missing deep in a weak draft.

I'm thinking the Memphis pick will be delayed this year. That could change by the end of the year, but right now Memphis doesn't look like a playoff team, so considering how weak the draft this year could be vs how strong next year's might, I'd rather keep it all things considered. Utah pick is also fine, but 2 first rounders is a lot to give for him, even lateish ones.
