I have a gut feeling that Telfair is just being rested with his foot injury. Ridnour is the guy being shopped.

Re: WT: Knicks Pursuing Telfair
Couple of points on the Knicks. We're really hurting for a bench right now.
We've got 5 solid players.
Felton (PG)
Fields (SF/SG tweener, probably more of an SF, playing SG)
Chandler (SF/small PF)
Gallo (SF/PF type)
Amare (PF/C)
and our bench:
Turiaf (who's a great bench player when he's not banged up)
Tony Douglas (a bit of a SG in a PG's body, great D, inconsistent shot, questionable PG skills, essentially our 6th man this year)
Shawne Williams (hot and cold - he's our 8th man now)
Mozgov - big guy, blocks shots, bad hands, still learning. Could be good in a couple years but he's a project.
Randolph - bottom line on Randolph is he still plays like a rookie and he's apparently got a bit of a star's attitude. Dantoni doesn't seem to like him. He's got skills, but short on brains and he doesn't look very good, what little time he's been on the floor. GS fans flagrantly overrated this guy, but he could still be good this year, perhaps in a slower system with more 1 on 1. If he would just learn to focus on D and Rebounding, he'd be a nice player, but he loves shooting jumpshots. Dantoni's trying to get a first round pick out of Randolph. Some team might get a pretty good bargain if they take him up on that.
Azubuike, lots of question-marks. Word is, he's looked slow in practice and he may be done. If Buke is healthy, we need him, but I don't think he's healthy.
Bill Walker has played OK. Kind of our 9th man.
Mason JR - nothing to see there. He's below Walker in the rotation.
Rautins is still a raw rookie. Not sure he's in the NBA next year. Played well for Team Canada this summer, but I'm not sure he's got NBA skills.
Bottom line (and sorry for the long post)
I doubt the Knicks trade Douglas cause he's our 6th man. Unless Telfair's going to become the 6th man, that doesn't make sense. The knicks want to augment their bench, not trade their 6th man for a backup PG.
The Knicks could trade AR, but I think they'd want more than Telfair in return.
None of the starting 5 are being traded without getting a starter in return.
Buike could be traded, but it'd probably only be done as a salary move. If he's healthy, I think the Knicks take a look at him, cause we could use him bigtime.
I don't know if I see a trade here cause Randolph is too much and Douglas doesn't make sense for NY and if we go lower than that. Mason JR/Bill Walker combo, that's like offering nothing unless maybe NY throws in a 2nd round pick.
My guess is that this swap doesn't happen. I don't see a good match that makes both sides happy.

As for the Jets . . . just keep it entertaining.

Well, I doubt Minnesota is going to be looking for a lot. If Randolph is available it'd be cool, ditto for Douglas, but if not something based around Walker or Azubuike would probably get it done.

I could see
Telfair+UTA/MEM pick
for
Randolph+Mason/Walker
Telfair+UTA/MEM pick
for
Randolph+Mason/Walker

Re: WT: Knicks Pursuing Telfair
I'm guessing it would be something simple like Telfair for Mason and a pick.
Telfair - $2,700,000 (Cap Hold: $5,400,000)
Mason - $1,400,000 (Cap Hold: $1,680,000)

I think that's the deal, with the UTA pick and Mason. Maybe some cash.

I don't know about Randolph. Where's he fit? What's he provide?

Re: WT: Knicks Pursuing Telfair
Upside at a reasonable price.
Maybe I'm being impractical, not worrying as much about the precise fit right now. I think we're still a team that needs to add talent. We've done OK with reclamations, and we've seen progress from other bigs (Darko, Love, Beasley). I'd rather lose a few extra games giving extra minutes to Randolph than win them by playing Tolliver, who's better but has limited upside.

Re: WT: Knicks Pursuing Telfair
Really? I'd honestly rather Tolliver. His upside isn't as high but that's kind of the point. He knows what he is, plays within himself, plays hard (something I haven't seen from Randolph) and won't complain. I'd rather have more guys like him then more "reclamations".

I also want some established veterans on the team, but I would be fine with adding Randolph to the frontcourt. He's much more talented than anything we'd be getting with a late pick, and this wouldn't hurt the the Wolves' ability to make a bigger trade for a vet.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

I think that's a totally reasonable position as well, and its why I used Tolliver to show the difference in my view.
Its no knock on Tolliver either.

Re: WT: Knicks Pursuing Telfair
Good debate ...
I look at it this way: Who can give us the most production in 15 minutes? Tolliver is currently a solid role player, energy, can score, but a weak rebounder. Randolph has teased and shown flashes of having ability to impact the game on both ends of the floor, but his mental appraoch has been his biggest weakness IMO.
First, what is Tolliver's injury status? Second, would Randolph see this as an opportunity to identify and value a role? Third, would having both, Tolliver and Randolph, be good or bad?
Milicic, Kujo
Love, Pekovic
Randolph, Tolliver-Injured
Beasley, Brewer
Johnson, Webster, Ellington
Ridnour, Flynn

I'm expecting it will be Telfair for monetary considerations. Either a cheaper contract or a few bucks coming back. I wouldn't expect Randolph to be involved.

That would still be more than I would ask for.

I would try to do it this way:
NYK GETS: Telfair+ UTA pick
MIN GETS: Randolph + Mason + cash
then
ORL GETS: Tolliver
MIN GETS: TPE + rights to Vazquez
It creates minutes for Randolph, and two buy-low, upside players
Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
