If lots of NBA talent stays in college to avoid the nba lockout, the 2012 pick is going to have lottery-level picks down to about 22. Moreover, its more valuable for MEM, because it isn't protected from them, provides trade flexibility from the Stepian rule, and provides insurance in case they fail.
I'm not a big Mayo fan, but I like that MEM pick better than an OK Taj.
When you look at it that way, I'd rather keep the MEM pick than trade it for Mayo. I'm not much of a Mayo fan for this team and we will lose our pick in 2012 to the Clips.
