the "new" kevin love

Post#1 » by miltk » Sat Mar 19, 2011 3:08 am

you know, the one who can now concentrate on improving his game because there came a point when he realized the streak was for the fans and himself. and when it ended, the burden was lifted and now he can focus on improving his game. that kevin love.

i'm a little wary of this "new" kevin love. it's not as if his pursuit of the streak hurt the team chemistry. and if it was for the fans or himself, so what. sometimes you have to manufacture motivation, especially one so long and arduous as the streak. in sports, it's called "bulletin board material". kobe does it, jordan did it, everyone looks for motivation. it's not a bad thing to do it for yourself or the fans if it helps the team anf keeps you focused and at your best.

so in the last game, kevin went 20/11,,,,a paltry 11 by kevin love standards. maybe it was a side effect of some stress release. maybe it's nearing the end of the season and he's mentally worn. well, my answer to that is, if the streak was still going, kevin wouldn't be worn, he would be alert and focused on the task. anything that makes you play your best is a good thing.

Are we really complaining about a 20-10 game?

in my opinion. i think the pursuit of the streak did hurt team chemistry. i think the focus of the team should have been to have darko, kevin and beasley all have good games at the same time. but the focus was on making sure kevin got his double double. kevin love doesn't make his team better. he can drop 30 and 30 and his team is still gonna lose. kevin love's motivation should be to win games. this team is not a 17 win team. i think kevin became the face of the team but isn't a goto guy. i'd much rather the team was trying to get beas to put up 30 a night than making sure kevin got his shots.

1. The focus of the team wasn't to get Kevin Love a double double. They occurred in the natural course of Love trying to help the Wolves win. It isn't his fault that Darko and Beasley are streakier than an IBS sufferer's undies.

2. If one player excelling hurts team chemistry, then the Wolves need to rid themselves of a lot of bad apples.

3. Kevin Love does make the Wolves better, but he doesn't make them good all by his lonesome.

4. The Wolves have one player that can be declared above average without encountering legitimate debate. Tough to achieve much more than 17 wins when that's the case.

5. The Wolves won the 31/31 game.
"A while back,'' Cardinal said, "I took a picture of the standings and texted it to Love, just to bust his chops,'' Cardinal said. "He sent me a picture back of a snowdrift.''
