That was my initial thought too, but this is my offseason dream team so I say that we open up enough cap room to sign him to a bigger deal than the Mavs' would be willing to match or exceed.

Plus, I'm not sure if they would even be able to resign him. Since he's an UFA and they're over the cap, the only way they could bring him back is if they have his Bird Rights. Does anyone know if they do?

Does anybody here offer Deandre Jordan a big contract and dare his miserly owner to match? (or offer a sign & trade, I suppose)

Good question. I'd seriously consider it because I'm a big fan of his, but I don't know. He's having a bit of a breakout year, but even then he only has a PER of 14.5 which is really bad for a rebounding big who plays fairly low minutes, his Drtg of 106 is also fairly mediocre for a defensive big, and his points per 36 are also down compared to the last 2 years.

Chandler said he had wanted to play for Dallas for awhile so I imagine they'll get to keep him at a nice discount.

I wouldn't mind taking a fun at Deandre Jordan but not at the price people mentioned earlier in the year (10mil a year).

I think that he'd prefer to stay in Dallas over other destinations, but I'll be really surprised if he decides to stay their for a discount. I think his choice (like almost every professional athlete's choice) will be based on money first, winning second, and area third.

"I've actually wanted to play with Dallas for a long time," Chandler said. "When I was in Chicago, I wanted to come here, but I was a restricted free agent. I wanted to come here then, but it just wouldn't seem like it made sense."

* I thought you said "I think he said that he'd.." My bad.

In another article I saw he talked about it being hard moving his family. I guess like you said money will probably come first but he really seems to like winning and the area/team.

Yeah, I believe that all else being equal that he'd pick Dallas over most, if not all, other teams, but I seriously doubt that he'd give up millions, or even tens of millions, of dollars to stay there.

Yeah, I edited my previous post because I misread yours. I bet the Mavs are kicking themselves for giving Haywood so much money.

Ok, so I guess it looks like this. I don't think it's all really possible, but it would be interesting.

Trade Rubio plus? to GSW for Ellis. (Yes, I know they probably wouldn't do this. How else do we get Ellis?)
Trade Webster and Flynn plus Memphis pick (which I'm magically going to declare we will get this year) to whover is necessary to get their pick to move up to get Jimmer.
Draft Valenciunas with our pick.

Fredette/Ridnour
Ellis/Johnson
Beasley/Heyward
Love/Randolph
Darko/Valenciunas/Pek

That defensive backcourt would make our current backcourt look impenetrable by comparison.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Sam Presti and Jerry Sloan replace Kahn and Rambis.

Trade Flynn for late 2nd + capspace.
Trade Pek/Wolves 2011 (Perry Jones/Valanciunas)/Capspace for Bynum.
Trade Beasley/Randolph/Webster for Iguodala.
Rubio comes over.
Mem and Utah picks deferred to 2012.
Love re-ups 5-65 (max) after new CBA drops his extension # quite a bit.

Rubio/Ridnour
Iguodala/Ellington
Johnson/Hayward
Love/Tolliver
Bynum/Darko

Rubio/Love become the new Stockton/Malone. Defense is worlds better. Iggy is 2nd effective distributor, and Wes becomes the Jeff Horacek of the rebuilt Jazz East dynasty.

Wing and Center D are super solid, and K-Love is asked to just be a solid man defender, which he is capable of.

Return to Minnesota Timberwolves
