Calipari as next coach?
i dont know how reliable that source is on the NBA home page for real gm saying he would like to come back to the NBA, but ive always liked Calipari, wherever hes coached in College basketball he was always able to make one of the best teams each year. very tough nosed guy as well. Not sure if he would leave to Kentucky to come here, but what would you think?

I'm not sure his success in college has as much to do with his coaching ability as it does his recruiting ability.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Someone with an eye for talent would be refreshing, though.

I would rather see the dribble drive offense then whatever we have now.
But I thought he failed as a coach in the pros? What was NJ like?

I don't think he's a good coach just a good recruiter. I've seen him get outcoached too many times at the college level to be too impressed with him since his teams are always one of the more talented ones.

I don't think Calipari would leave Kentucky for Minnesota. We're not exactly regarded as a power house team.

I am not a Calipari fan, based on cheating and all...
With that said, despite having no faith he would want to coach here, I would love having a coach with some national swagger in Minnesota. Also, clearly he has connections and young, talented guys want to play for him. If the opportunity arose, why the hell not. I just don't see it happening.

A total failure as I recall... it was pretty brutal. The gophers could use him though.

I also don't see this happening, but I would much prefer Taylor getting Jerry Sloan*. I would give him everything and anything he wanted, full roster control or whatever else. Fire Rambis and Kahn and roll with Sloan and what he needs for a contender. Again, extremely unlikely, but a dream scenario.

AK47 made it known that he wants to stay in Utah, but I wonder if hiring Sloan would make him at least reconsider.

I hate the idea of Calipari, college coaches basically never succeed in the pros. I don't want to see them fire Kahn, but if I was him, I would be on the phone with Jerry Sloan all day, every day, until he agreed to come here. It's ridiculous how much he would help them as a coach.

Coaches aren't the ones making the trades or signings though...

Some do. But I don't know what kind of eye Calipari has, it doesn't take a basketball genius to know Derrick Rose or John Wall are good players.

He's just getting out before his sleazy, corrupt house of cards collapses on him. I'm not sure he's a pro coach, and I'm pretty sure he wouldn't improve this team.
If the Wolves want a new coach, I'd rather have Adelman. Bet he's going to New York, though.

Rambis has influenced Kahn in acquiring a few players. Pavs, for example, was all Rambis.
