Johnson Named to All-Rookie Second Team

Post#1 » by Klomp » Thu May 12, 2011 1:50 am

The NBA today named Wes Johnson to the All Rookie second team.

Rookie of the Year Blake Griffin was joined on the first team by John Wall, Landry Fields, DeMarcus Cousins and Gary Neal.

Named to the second team along with Johnson: Detroit's Greg Monroe, Utah's Derrick Favors, LA Clippers' Eric Bledsoe and Indiana's Paul George.

Three candidates who didn't make either team: No. 2 overall pick Evan Turner, Toronto's Ed Davis and Utah's Gordon Hayward.

Johnson averaged 9.0 points, 3.0 rebounds, 1.9 assists and shot 35.6 percent from three-point range in 79 games (including 63 starts).

His 29 points against the Lakers in Los Angeles in March, the most by a Wolves rookie since Stephon Marbury scored 33 against Utah on Dec. 23, 1996.

Kevin Garnett, Kevin Love, Jonny Flynn, Craig Smith and Felton Spencer also were named to the second team during their rookie seasons with the Wolves.

Marbury, Pooh Richardson, Christian Laettner, Isaiah Rider, Wally Szczerbiak and Randy Foye were named to the All Rookie First Team as Timberwolves.

OJ Mayo is one of the best defenders in the league, hes a two way player and hes a great passer and playmaker.

Why would that be worse?

We wouldn't have a 2nd All-Rookie team player?

I'd trade that meaningless honor and Johnson for Turner right now.
