It's hard to carry on a linear conversation when people are talking about draft picks, cap space, free agents, lottery, who should we dump and trades all at once.

I like the way Iguodala is peeled off.

More new independent threads versus adding all different discussions to a "official _____ thread" like Shrink already stated.

Like the new Iggy one that was moved to a new clean topic. Need more of that.

My thought is to make about four new threads

Draft picks - We already have the prospect thread
Cap Space - I suppose we could have a thread on that, but there hasn't been much discussion ongoing.
Free Agency - We can do that. Someone go ahead.
Lottery - We can have a thread when the night comes. (Wow, a week from tomorrow already)

Any others?

trade Irving or Rubio (vote) explain decision and what to get
Is Kobe GOAT?
Is Phil GOAT?
Is there anything Laker oriented that is NOT GOAT?
Is Darko finally free?

I wonder if David Lee and Rudy Gay are considered options for David Kahn. Last year he tried to pursue these two guys before we even hired a coach.

Gay appeared to be more of a longshot since he was a restricted free agent and was only using other teams to get more money (mission accomplished), but now the rumors are that he can be put on the trade block since Memphis has done so well without him and they will have a lot of money invested in Conley, Randolph, Gasol who is a RFA.

Lee and his agent kept their options open and showed some interest in Minnesota. He sounds like a good fit for a team that wants to run a fast paced offense, but I don’t know why Kahn tried to pursue him when we already had the power forward position set.

I'd be all for Gay, I still think he'd be an excellent fit here, and he had a nice year before his injury, I have no idea what Memphis would want, but I think we'd have to figure something out with Beasley.

It seems like they'd want major cap relief and cheap talent so they could keep Gasol without having the payroll get completely insane.

I wonder if they'd accept a Beas or a Beas+20 for Gay. I don't think Gay is the kind of guy you gut a team for, even if the Wolves don't have much good stuff to gut.

He is young, but his contract is crazy.

Heisley isn't trading Gay.

But what about something like...

MEM IN/MIN OUT: #2/3 (Kanter/Biyombo) + Webster + Pekovic

MN IN/MEM OUT: Gasol (S&T) + Mayo

I'd do that so fast it would hurt someone. But why don't you think that Heisley is trading Gay, but would trade Gasol? I would think that Gasol would be the one they keep if they can only afford one.

That would be a tough one to pull off just because the timing between the draft and free agency.

Something I read this morning

http://aol.sportingnews.com/nba/story/2 ... e-rudy-gay

Says he's not trading Gay, no way, no how. Says Marc is coming back if he wants to come back.

I don't even know why Heisley is saying these things when he's under no obligation to do so. All he really had to do was say that he's committed to these guys whether it's true or not and ramble on how the team will be stronger next year. They're going to do anything until the new CBA is settled obviously, but I think they will seriously listen to offers.

No joke. Adding Gasol would be spectacular. I'm praying that this Heisley quote is accurate and Gasol is actually available.

Gasol a free agent, I think that's all Heisley meant.

I thought it was Heisley's way of saying that he hopes Gasol won't ask for a max contract and at least considers a hometown discount.
