MIN/LAC (If Irving drops to #2)

Post#1 » by theGreatRC » Fri May 20, 2011 6:45 pm

#2 pick + Wes Johnson or AR15 for Eric Gordon

How untouchable is EJ? I can see him as our SG of the future and I see a lot of Clipper games (I live in the area), so I can see his style of play fitting in with this group of guys and he fills a big need:

-Shooter
-Advanced ball handler at his position
-Ability to draw FT at a high rate
-Decent passer at his position
-Above average defender

Rubio/Ridnour
Gordon/Ellington
Beasley/(Johnson)/
Love/(Randolph/Tolliver
Darko/PekPek

What does everyone think? Do the Clippers hang up?

I don't know if the value is that far off, but it's not a better fit for the Clippers. They don't make the trade.

I think the reason they wouldn't make the trade is because they can live with Mo/Bledsoe at the PG, but can't survive with Wes/Randy at the SG..Wes is a SF

I don't think the value is that far off, though. I think it's a pretty fair deal value wise. #2 pick alone wouldn't get Eric Gordon, but package the pick with a young talent (Wes or Randolph) and I think they take a real look at the trade.

I'd do it, and I think it'd have to be Wes. Wes could play sg, then take Derrick Williams as their PF.

This certainly would be very tempting.

Another option I have been kicking around in my head is trading down with Toronto and getting Barbosa and Biyombo.

#2 for #5(Biyombo) and Barbosa ? Maybe we could include Pek if necessary?

Obviously Barbosa is no Gordon, and he'll be 29 in November, but he brings some of the same things to the table (speed, ball handling, getting into the paint) and he's much more "gettable". Yeah, he's not a true SG, undersized, not a great defender, etc, but I think he could be a dynamic 6th man for us, giving Rubio a lightning-quick option on the break. I just think that he is someone that has been almost completely forgotten about in Toronto, but he quietly had a very solid season as a 6th man there last year.

I don't know, just brainstorming.

If I am trading with LAC I want MN 2012 back in any deal we make. If we're not talking that then I am talking to another team other than the Clippers.

I doubt LAC makes a trade that makes us better. It would decrease the value of that draft pick.

I am not willing to let the wolves off the hook by getting their pick back. Their play this year was horrible and there will be no excuses such as tanking. The team needs to win enough for that pick to not be top 4 before Stern gets involves. :)

This is under the condition Irving falls to #2 so I'm assuming Williams went #1. Plus the Clips already have a PF who is kinda decent.

The value isn't bad, but I don't think they do it. Eric Gordon is younger than Wes and more proven than both Wes and Irving.

I'd do #2/Wes/Beasley for Gordon/Gomes. How can they turn that down? Even if Irving goes #1 they can still get a big man to replace Jordan that can take over starting once Kaman is gone. Then we trade Pek/Flynn for Stephen Jackson and use the #20 to get rid of Gomes - I mean send him to a contender.

A starting line up of Rubio/Gordon/Jackson/Love/Randolph with Ridnour/Webster/Tolliver/Darko as the bench would be more than fine with me.

Any of the following SGs would be great for the Wolves:

Tyreke Evans, James Harden, Evan Turner, Eric Gordon.

These guys are the future of the NBA at the 2 spot. I can't see any of them being traded from their teams. we will have to draft one if we want to find our SG.

More like understatement, but either way a bit odd to miss the meaning.
