If he doesn't want to accept the role he is meant for, than he should be traded. He works for the team, not vice-versa.
Evanz, this is off topic for this thread but having read the thread on the GS board, I'd like to ask if you think the new GS management will use your type of advanced statistical analysis and if so would Iggy for Monta be a good move for them? Full disclosure is that I'm a Sixers fan.
I know they are using some advanced statistical analysis, hopefully moreso than what I can do with play-by-play data. The major factor for me evaluating Iggy is his health. That's something that I just can't know the full story. But assuming health is not a concern, Iggy would be a major upgrade defensively for the Warriors. Iggy's contract is somewhat bigger, but the same length as Monta's. Iggy could play the 2 or the 3, which is a huge advantage, because it means Dorell wouldn't have to play so many minutes, and Reggie Williams could be on the floor with Iggy, thus lightening his offensive burden. An Iggy that was focused much more on defense and rebounding, and less on scoring would be very valuable to the Warriors.
The only issue is that we would be back to the same situation and a little worse depending on the new CBA, with not a ton of cap room to go out and sign a major free agent center. We would be locked into a core of Curry/Iggy/Lee, which while an upgrade from one with Ellis (in my opinion) is still a likely first or maybe second round playoff contender at best.
